United States Institute of Peace is a federal research agency sponsored and funded by the U.S. Congress. Peace Fellow is a GS-15 position awarded annually on a highly competitive basis. Functions included research, writing, consulting and lecturing on international economic and social issues with the special emphasis on economic education, vocational training and guidance in the process of military conversion, transition, international economic relations, foreign aid, privatization and deregulation. Also consulted other agencies of the U.S. government and testified before the U.S. Congress on issues of national security and foreign economic and military assessment.
