George G. White Family and Faculty Association Meeting

The meeting was called to order at about 7:30pm

Mr. Bergamini

  1. Back to School Night: Happened on September 19 and was very successful.
  2. Media Center Renovation: During the winter break, there is plan to renovate the Media Center. It will take about 2 mths and there will be a temporary space for library functions during the time.
  3. Other Renovations: Apart from the Media Center, rooms 101/102 will also be upgraded to a latest technology Lab
  4. Digital Printer:One will be purchased soon to help with many of the new classes for which students need it
  5. New Chairs:The high school donated 60 detached desks/chairs and they have been shared amongst the classes since then. It was a very good gesture as we needed the chairs.
  6. Academic Assessment: The STAR program has been discontinued because it was not meeting the children/teacher needs. We will be using NWEA going forward
  7. Vision Test: The Lions Club is planning to come in to do free vision tests but many parents did not sent in permission slips. Ginny will send out emails to remind parents
  8. SUMO Wrestling:The fund raiser will not take place because the school insurance is not ready to take on the risk

Parents

  1. Treasurer’s Report::
  2. Donation from the PBA: $1500 check was received from the Hillsdale police. Parents are encouraged to go support them on 10/7/17 at their Dueling Pianos fundraiser
  3. 2018-2019 positions:The Co-Presidents, Treasurer and Spirit wear chairs (5 positions) will be moving on after this academic year. We need to start looking for people to take over their roles
  4. Teacher resignations: Messrs Bower and Angelo have resigned and will be leaving us before the end of the year.
  5. Superintendent:The salary cap for Superintendents have now been removed so we should see some stability in the District for the position going forward.
  6. Refrigerator: The teen center refrigerator died and we need to buy a new one. Arrangements are being made to replace it
  7. Mums will be delivered on 9/29. No pick up orders were taken this year
  8. Teen Centers:Upcoming dates - 5th Grade 10/13; 6th grade 10/20
  9. Bergamini Pizza Toss:It has been fixed for January 17, 2018
  10. Designer Bag Bingo: It will be our major fundraiser this year instead of the Snowball. It will be on January 26, 2018S
  11. Speakers needed: For the monthly meetings, we need speakers to come in and talk on various topics. Suggestions are welcome
  12. STEAM family Night: This was suggested as a fundraiser. Mr.Bergamini said he should be reminded once the Media Center Renovation is complete
  13. Other: There were suggestions about installing a new water fountain in the school, fixing the basketball and the soccer nets. Mr.Bergamini said the school is too old for the fountain and that the basketball court is being converted for another purpose.
