BiogAssistant Engineer
Olympic Studios, Virgin EMI 1995-2002.
Starting as a runner I quickly moved up the ranks to Asst Eng for Mark ‘Spike’ Stent and as Pro-tools was growing so did I into Spike’s full time Pro-tools Eng. With Spike being a world class mix engineer I was heavily involved in all his projects from 1997 to 2002.
This was a fantastic opportunity to work with many world class artists at a high turnover a few being Bjork, Massive Attack, Maddonna, Spice Girls and Oasis.
Pro-Tools and Audio Engineer
2002 to present,
Late in 2002 and after successfully completing several projects of my own I felt confident that it was the right time to move on and go freelance. This is when I became involved in recording with Oasis at their own studio Wheeler End in Buckinghamshire. This was a great working relationship for as it allowed me to explore the recording side of record making from demos to several finished studio albums and allowed me to meet and work with many other artists. Since its opening in 2007 I’ve have been working mainly at Dean St studio’s in Soho.
Record Producer
2006 to present,
Late in 2005 I began to make the natural progression to producer with some new projects while still engineering for Oasis and with growing confidence jumped at the opportunity to produce Paul Weller’s ‘Studio 150’ album. After Studio 150 I made the full time transition to producer working with Paul again on his next album ‘As Is Now’ as well as working with The Riles, The Draytones and The Law while still engineering for Noel Gallagher and others in-between production work.
Mix Engineer
2010 to present,
For the last few years I have been focusing a lot on the art of mixingwith great results having Paul Weller’s Sonik Kicks reaching No 1 in March 2012.
Other album mixes include Ocean Colour Scene, The Moons, Alexander Wolfe and The Draytones.
Live Production
At the start of 2012 Paul Weller asked me to get involved in a live production of his No1 album Sonik Kicks. This was a new direction for Paul in that he wanted to play the new album start to finish at all the shows. After a lot of prep work and a few weeks rehearsals we played 5 night at London’s Roundhouse and took the set to the US, Canada and Europe with great reviews.
