Implementation:

  • In accordance with DEECD regulations (Schools Reference Guide Section 2.6), a school council may raise funds for school purposes by conducting local efforts or amusements.

  • School approved fundraising activities exclude non-school oriented commercial and gambling operations such as poker machines, pyramid selling, betting, horse-racing, property speculation, other speculative investment etc.
  • School Council may delegate the operation of fundraising activities to Parents Club (Schools Reference Guide Section 2.7) but must still approve their proposed activities; ensuring that those activities are operated in compliance with legislation such as food handling regulations, criminal records checks and OHS requirements.
  • School Council will seek subject levies and fees where appropriate from parents in accordance with departmental requirements and expectations.
  • School Council will seek voluntary contributions from parents in accordance with departmental requirements and expectations.
  • Fundraising groups will be made aware each year of the Fundraising Policy and supporting documents.
  • School Council has the capacity to hire school facilities to outside bodies when the facilities are not required for school purposes and also have the responsibility to establish the terms and conditions of use.
