MapAction ( is a leading humanitarian mapping charity. It deploys skilled volunteers to international humanitarian emergencies to map priority needs. This mapped information helps responders target their response effectively, contributing to saving lives and minimising suffering.

MapAction has built a strong reputation in the humanitarian sector and is a technical partner of the United Nations. The charity has attracted funding from UK Government (DFID), EU and other major donors.Prince Harry has been the charity’s patron since 2007.

Main Responsibilities

This is a new role. It has a dual remit:

1)Fundraising & marketing support (15 hours per week): To support, coordinate and manage fundraising and marketing activities in order to boost the charity’s income.Key activities include:

  • Generating and coordinating content for key donor communications, including six-monthly newsletters sent via MailChimp and updates via social media (Facebook, Twitter etc);
  • Updating supporters during major emergencies by agreement with the Fundraising & Marketing Director;
  • Coordinating and administering MapAction’s Community and Events fundraising programme, including supporting event participants to maximise their fundraising potential;
  • Supporting the Fundraising & Marketing Director in tracking and forecasting income and expenditure for the Community & Events budget line;
  • Maintaining and regularly updating the supporter database (using Salesforce);
  • Maintaining and updating marketing materials as requested;
  • Supporting colleagues (staff, trustees and volunteers) in delivering fundraising activities, including attending events and conferences;
  • Applying best fundraising practices, including compliance with the Data Protection Act, and ensuring that all systems, processes and operating models are maintained appropriately to deliver an efficient service to our supporters.

2)General administrative support (7.5 hours per week): To provide administrative support for MapAction as a whole in order to facilitate efficient and effective working. This will include activities such asmanaging office calendars, organising meetings, managing bookings and updating databases.

Additional Information

Candidates must:

  • have the right to live and work in the UK. MapAction is unable to consider candidates who do not already hold appropriate permissions.
  • be able to work from the MapAction offices in Saunderton, HP14
  • be flexible and willing to work on occasions outside office hours including evening and weekends (e.g. representing MapAction at the London marathon)
  • have a full, clean driving licence
  • have an appreciation of and affinity with the humanitarian purpose of the charity
