Main purpose of the job
The role sits within the Community and Events Fundraising Team and you will primarily be responsible for identifying and developing new fundraising events, supporting and developing new and existing fundraising groups, along with supporting and promoting our national and challenge events programme.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Full driving licence and have transport readily available
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or experience in an appropriate field.
- Demonstrable experience in Community fundraising role
- Demonstrable experience in running regional local fundraising appeals
- Recruitment and managing volunteer fundraising groups and individual fundraisers
- Planning of fundraising events programme and evaluation of fundraising opportunities
- Working with the media
- Working with other fundraising teams to deliver diverse activities including events, corporate partnerships and key supporter/cultivation activities
- Excellent written and face to face communication skills, with an aptitude for interacting with colleagues and
- supporters on all levels
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), databases and the Internet
- Certificate in Fundraising
- Knowledge of fundraising databases (ideally CARE)
The person we are looking for must be a sociable, outgoing team player, possessing proven community fundraising skills. You will be confident and self-motivating and experienced at dealing with a diverse range of groups and individuals.
You should be well organised and able to manage a number of projects at any one time. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills, be flexible in attitude and able to make decisions. You will have a commitment to animal welfare and a passion for our work.
Key responsibilities
- To work with the Community and Events Fundraising Manager to develop and implement regional fundraising plans
- To develop fundraising opportunities in conjunction with our other sites
- To cultivate and recruit new and existing volunteers to participate in a range of third party fundraising events or to hold their own in aid of fundraising events
- To support and develop existing and new national fundraising activities
- To work with our corporate desk to establish and develop fundraising opportunities with local organisations
- To plan and manage an agreed programme of fundraising projects
- Identify, research potential fundraising opportunities where required
- To ensure that we optimise all internal communication resources to encourage staff participation and support of events
- Undertake other related tasks as required
- Liaise with our data processing team to ensure all income is accurately accounted for
The post holder will be home based but will be required to travel for regular meetings.Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work some weekends and evenings with time off lieu.
