Layman’s Foundation, Inc.
Dear Friends,December 17, 2007
I thought that our last 3M conference, held aboard an LA cruise ship to Ensenada with Walter Henrichsen as our primary speaker, was one of the most successful conferences I have ever attended. It was successful because we assembled a like-minded group of people that easily interacted with each other, the speakers were very solid and engaging, mentor huddles were as relevant as ever, and everyone had a lot of fun. While the conference unfortunately got a “Love Boat” tag associated with it, it was primarily a wonderful getaway to evaluate how committed we are to having an eternal perspective.
Because of the popularity of this past conference and the fact that we had a long waiting list last year, we have decided to do a back-to-back conference this February at one of America’s top Guest Ranches in Colorado, Lost Valley Ranch. It is slated for Feb 14-17th, 2008, and we will provide transportation from Denver Airport to Lost Valley Ranch. I am excited because we will be digging deeper into the subject of what it means to have a personal ministry both in your home, and in the marketplace. We have a line-up of four outstanding speakers this year, and the best group of mentors we have ever assembled, coming up from Colorado Springs to spend Saturday with us. I have taken my family there a number of times and my children have many fond memories as young kids there. This location will provide us with guided horseback rides through beautiful RockyMountain vistas and a terrific evening of Friday night Barn Dancing.
As you know, our vision is to build partnerships in marketplace ministry and marriage. Already, we have co-labored with many of you in various ministry functions around the country, stressing “lay ministry” with an eternal perspective. Now we would like to bring you all together, to have you interact, compare notes, and encourage each other to even greater service for our Lord (Hebrews 10:24). We have been encouraged by the fruit from our last two conferences (Boston 2004) (Los Angeles 2007) and already pockets of “sold out” young professional ABC’s are starting to surface in various cities around the country. We want you all to get to know each other and even partner in doing the ministry together.
This event is going to be more intense than the usual Christian conference. The messages that you will hear are designed to scramble your categories, challenge your assumptions, and get you thinking Biblically. There will be plenty of time for interaction with the speakers after each message, as well as with one another as the schedule will afford plenty of relaxation and interaction time. We hope to provide many contexts for you to network and build potential partnerships for the future. I would consider this conference to be almost a “waste”, if your life is not changed by this weekend. To this end, we invite you to tell others who would not only benefit from this conference but also have something to contribute. We want this conference to be a unique gathering of mature, Christian professionals.
The cost of this conference will be $450 which includes your transportation to and from Denver airport, excluding the horseback riding and the skeet shooting which willcost $18.00 per instance. Register by Jan 25th, by sending a check to Layman’s Foundation, Inc, P.O.Box 398088, Cambridge, MA 02139, or you may register online at Space is more limited this year than at any previous 3M conference so we expect an excellent time of personal interaction and exchange of ideas among conference participants. Hopefully, at least 60% of attendees will be returning alumni. I look forward to seeing you all in the mountains of Colorado for an unforgettable 3-day weekend.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Lee F. Yih
