Front of House Manager:

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of daily Tasting Room, Restaurant, and Retail operations.

General responsibilities:

Provides work leadership to others through assignment of work, review of progress, monitoring of results and instruction.

Creates procedures and protocols for daily tasks within the guidelines of the organizational norms.

Ensures that organization policy and procedures are followed and advises Board of areas that could be improved and/or streamlined for financial or workflow efficiencies.

Presides over staff meetings.

Budgetary development and monitoring for the areas managed.

Maintain in-depth knowledge about the wines, the vineyards, the winery and the brand.

Handle customer questions, complaints, and issues.

Works in conjunction with the Board and Marketing to develop and promote company image and products.

May be assigned other tasks or be asked to participate in other activities both on site and off site as needed.

Tasting Room

Oversees and supervises daily activities of Tasting Room. Able to perform all duties associated with position Tasting Room Staff/Wine Server. Responsible for hiring, orientation, scheduling, training, supervising, evaluating, and discipline or termination of Tasting Room staff. Writes performance reviews and advises Board on salary decisions. Responsible for overseeing Tasting Room wine and non-wine items for sale and inventory of those items.

Restaurant

Oversees and supervises daily activities of all Restaurant staff, including servers, bussers, hosts, cashiers, and anyone else who regularly interacts with customers before, during and after the meal. Able to perform all duties associated with these positions. Responsible for hiring, orientation, scheduling, training, supervising, evaluating, and discipline or termination of these Restaurant positions. Writes performance reviews and advises Board on salary decisions. Responsible for front of house restaurant supply inventory and ordering of supplies as needed.

Retail

Oversees the daily Retail activities and retail staff, including cashiers. Coordinates the shipping of goods, sets up displays, and assists customers and staff during business hours. Retail responsibilities include:

  • Formulate pricing policies and ensure pricing is correct.
  • Work on store displays.
  • Identify current and future trends that appeal to consumers.
  • Ensure merchandise is clean and ready to be displayed.
  • Approve contracts with vendors.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure items are in stock.
  • Keep up with fluctuating supply and demand.
  • Analyze operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
  • Ensure promotions are accurate and merchandised to the company’s standards.
  • Utilize information technology to record sales figures, for data analysis and forward planning.
  • Ensure standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met.
  • Monitor local competitors.

Experience/Qualifications:

Requires two or more years of management and/ or retail management experience.

Must be professional and able to work well under pressure.

Education: Bachelor degree preferred.
