Subject: Update

Dear Customer,

Just before the summer we ran a customer survey across all catering facilities, and we are delighted to be able to update you on the actions resulting from your feedback, thank you very much for your time completing the surveys. In addition we have been working on a number of projects during the summer and we are excited to bring you news of our future plans.

Home-made sandwiches

We are delighted to announce during September you will see the transition from bought sandwiches to freshly produced sandwiches across all outlets. We aim to achieve three objectives with this change; firstly we believe home made sandwiches using fresh local seasonal produce will vastly improve quality and choice. In addition we will see a vast reduction in food miles and will be tracking the environmental benefits through the Ecoversity project. On a final note we believe home made sandwiches will be a way of combating spiralling food cost which have been widely published over the last few months. We will be commencing with a variety of traditional and more innovative choices in a range of different breads, however we would welcome your suggestions on choices you would like to see available so please don’t hesitate to pop your suggestions on the comment cards available in all facilities.

New Hospitality Menu’s

During the summer we have been workingon our new hospitality menu’s which will available from the 15th of September, our new menu’s offer greater choice, ranging from home-made sandwich platters, salads, hot daily specials, premium cakes, pastries and biscuits, along with innovative concepts such as the Bento Box’s which is a new style of offer designed for smaller meetings where your meal is served for you in a segmented box, allowing your meeting to continue whilst you dine. We will also have a range of premium menus for more formal events.

Our primary objective is to introduce a more varied choice, and great quality, the majority of our menus will be made fresh to order.

In addition we have been looking at how we can reduce our disposables in line with the Ecoversity policy, and I’m delighted that we have been able to introduce a crockery service across D Floor within RichmondBuilding, including the Small Hall, and NorcroftBuilding from the 15th of September.

To reduce our re-cycling our new menu will not be produced in paper format but as a PDF link on the University web site, the details of this link will follow shortly.

In the very near future we will be introducing an online booking system for all Hospitality bookings, details of this will follow shortly, in the interim please continue to book Hospitality via the booking spreadsheet available on the catering web page, or by calling 4901.

If you already have a booking from the existing menu you will be contacted by the catering office nearer the time of your event to discuss your menu selection.

New Menu’s and great value deals

On the 22nd of September we will be launching our new menus in the Atrium Restaurant; our new menu will include a new range of traditional, eastern and mediterranean dishes, along with a range of hot snacks. Our menus will be utilising fresh local seasonal produce where possible, all of which will be produced fresh daily from our kitchen.

Also watch out for our new innovative sharing dishes, these will be dishes designed for two to four people to share. Examples;

The Atrium Coffee & Deli Bar

From the new term you will notice a few changes in the deli bar, we’ve already mentioned the home-made sandwiches which will be available from the grab & go fridge.

We will also be launching a baguette bar; we will be offering a range of freshly prepared hot and cold baguettes through out the day at the deli counter, you will also be able to pay for your baguette at the deli counter, which will save you having to join the queue for the coffee area, unless you want a coffee of course.

Jazzmans

We are still in the planning stages at Jazzmans, but we are really excited about our plans to re-open Jazzmans in the new term as a Fairtrade, organic and local produce café. It’s going to be totally ethical.
