Re:Ski Trip Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below is information related to our Ski Trip. This will also be reviewed with students at a meeting before the trip on 1/18/17during W.I.N.

Trip Preparation

What Do I Need to Bring?

  • Students should plan to dress warmly and in layers.
  • Students should bring their own equipment or rent skis/snowboards.
  • Students must be wear helmets to ski/snowboard.
  • Students will need between $15.00 and $20.00 for dinner. There is a cafeteria where they can purchase food. Students can also pack dinner as well.
  • There also free cubbies available. Students can also rent lockers for $6.00 or $8.00 (depending on the size) to secure belongings.
  • We collect student cell phone numbers for those who have phones. This is not a requirement but an additional way to contact them if needed.
  • Students who need an inhaler will need to bring the inhaler on the trip and keep it with them at all times. Chaperones will check to see that they have the inhaler before getting on the bus. Epi-pens will be carried by adult chaperones.

Trip Timeline

Students with equipment are encouraged to get a ride to school as opposed to riding the bus with equipment if possible.

Equipment for the trip needs to be checked in prior to the start of the school day, Friday, January 20th. Students will store any equipment for the trip in their assigned room that will be locked during the day. Please do not plan to drop off equipment during the day.

Students will be dismissed for the trip after eating lunch.

They should change in the locker rooms and pick up any equipment that has been checked in and then report to the lower gym.

Students will also need to bring their school backpacks or anything else they plan to take home for the weekend as we will not be going back into Murray Avenue when we return. We’ll leave backpacks on the buses which will be locked.

Students will be on their own to ski. All students will need to check in between 3:00 and 3:30 pm at the designated location. MA staff are always available at our designated table in the lodge for students at any time.

We plan to leave Bear Creek at 7:00 pm.

We will arrive at the high school back parking lot at approximately 8:30 pm.

Students will be picked up from the high school parking lot.

Can we drive up and back with our family?

It is our preference that students ride the bus up and back from the trip. One of the purposes of the trip is to provide the opportunity for students to socialize with each other. Students are required to ride the bus up to Bear Creek. If you plan to drive your child home, he/she must bring a note into school on the day of the trip stating this. Anyone not going home on the bus must have a written note prior to leaving for the trip. Students getting a ride home will need to check out with MA staff members before leaving.

Can we go if we have never skied before?

Yes, students who have never skied before are permitted to attend.

  • Students who have never skied before are strongly encouraged to take a lesson.
  • There is an additional charge for a lesson.
  • In the past, some families of students who have not skied before have gone to the resort to join us at the mountain, although this is not required.
