Freewrite Part A:

Recollect a moment in childhood when you had a strong sensory/bodily experience (very cold, very hot, very thirsty, etc.) Describe it in as much physical detail as possible.

Freewrite Part B:

Transfer this situation to a different character, setting, age, animal, etc.

What books did you like and why?

How to Catch a Star - cool artwork (trees)

Pancakes for Breakfast - no words; had to infer what was happening; sad: woman wanted to make pancakes for her and her pets, no syrup, animals ate all of the ingredients....moral: if you don't succeed, try again.

Someday - mother talking to her daughter about growing up; simple pictures; nicely done.

Sam's Snack - all the lines rhyme; simple; writing is integrated with pictures.
