HEAD OF SCHOOL / PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Lastevening, I had the good fortune to be invited to a small gathering of Langley educators for a reception with our BC Minister of Education, the Honourable Mike Bernier. Minister Bernier spoke with us about our implementation of the new curriculum, sought feedback about our experience, had an open question and answer session, and spent time with each of us individually. It was refreshing to see our Minister so engaged in gleaning feedback and conversing easily with educators. He was pleased to hear about Fraser Valley Elementary and our upcoming evaluation to become an International Baccalaureate World school this coming April, as choice in education is one of the defining features of our province and a great thing for all students. I was inspired to be amongst so many dedicated educators from various schools including faith based, sports based, nature based and alternative learning environments, knowing that this diversity is valued by our government. I was reassured and proud of the dedication our teachers have shown in pursuing the IB programme and implementing it in such a caring and professional manner. Great things lay ahead for our school, and 2017 looks promising and inspiring. Happy New Year.

EARLY DISMISSAL: JANUARY 18, 2017 2:00 PM

Just a reminder that we have early dismissal on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 with a pick-up time of 2:00 pm. This provides collaborative planning time for our faculty which is valued and instrumental to our programming.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY (PRO-D) Friday, January 27, 2017

Our Pro-D day this year is aligned with a training session for the International Baccalaureate and originally, we had thought is was Monday, January 30. However, it was confirmed that the training would occur on Friday, January 27, 2017, so we have had to adjust our day. We are apologetic for this change in date, but hope it does not offer too much inconvenience to our families.
