CampConestogo, Girl Guides of Canada – Kitchener Division
CampConestogo is owned by Kitchener Division and is located near Drayton, just off Highway 86, approximately 20km east of Listowel and 40 km west of waterloo.
Facilities available for all Sites
Picnic Shelter – this shelter is located beside the (A)lder site and behind the (C)edar site building.
Pool – A large in ground pool is available June – August.
Pool House – Building with showers, sinks and toilets. Toilets are to be used by swimmers only when necessary. Showers are available for use by adults and JL’s.
Freezer andDryer - Two full size upright freezers are available for additional storage and are located in the A site. A clothes dryer is located in the A site building.
WellnessBuilding – This building has a cot and table for those who need a quiet place or are not feeling well. It is also useful as a central building for large all site camps.
Miscellaneous – Garbage bags and firewood are supplied. All other supplies , such as dish soap, javex, matches, T-towels, charcoal, etc. are the responsibility of the unit.
Hungry Hollow / Sleepy Hollow (rented as one) – residential site
Hungry Hollow – Cooking equipment and dishes and cutlery for at least 24 are provided. There are tables and benches insidefor eating and activities as well as picnic tables available for outdoors. A permanent eating / sun / activities shelter is on the front of the building.
Sleepy Hollow – 24 bunks available. A minimum of two adults must sleep indoors regardless of number of girls in the building. Two flush toilets and sinks are available for use on this site.
Kiwanis site – tent or residential site
This building consists of two adjoining rooms, a kitchen and large activities room. The kitchen has refrigerator, stove, and cooking equipment, (dishes and cutlery available for 20). The adjoining room is large enough to sleep approximately 18 – 20 girls on floor. This is one campfire pit on site, no cooking pits. Four canvas tents with permanent floorboards. Lats on site are tobe used by campers regardless if residential or tenting. Two toilets and sinks in building for discretionary use. Picnic tables availalbe outside as well as several large tables and chairs inside. Permanent eating / sun / activities shelter at back of building. Entire site is in very close proximity to the building. Excellent site for tent camping with Sparks or Brownies.
(A)lder site – tent site
Site building has refrigerator, stove,microwave oven, cooking equipment, kitchen sink and water. Lats on site. Two flush toilets, bathroom sink are available for discretionary use. A tenet building behind has canvas tenets for the six permanent floorboards on sit and kit boxes. An outside sink is available on this site for liquid disposal, teeth brushing, etc. site has large permanent sun / activities shelter attached to building, covered picnic tables, water tap, large permanent charcoal barbeque and cooking pits.
(B)irch Site – tent site
Small site building has refrigerator, stove, some cooking equipment, kitchen sink and water. Storage shed for six canvas tents, kit boxes and site equipment behind building. Site has lats, outside tap, six permanent floorboards, covered picnic tables, cooking pits, large permanent charcoal barbeque and large permanent sun/activities shelter beside the building. An outside sink is available on this site for liquid disposal, teeth brushing, etc.
(C )edar Site – tent site
Site is suitable for Pathfinders, Advanced Guides or Day Camps. A very small site building has refrigerator, stove, tents, and kit boxes, no running water to sink. Five nylon tents are available. Picnic tables, canvas dining shelters, cooking pits, lats, campfire pit and water tap on site.
(D)ogwood Site – tent site
Site building has refrigerator, stove, some cooking equipment, water, kitchen sink, canvas tents and kit boxes. Site has six permanent floorboards, cooking pits, large permanent charcoal barbeque, covered picnic tables, water tap, as well as a permanent eating/sun/activities shelter on the building. An outside sink is available on this site for liquid disposal, teeth brushing, etc.
(E)lm Site – tent site
