“Four EffectiveMethods of Evangelism”
(Sunday Morning March 10th, 2013)
Passage: John 1:35-51
John 20:31“but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God;
and that believing you may have life in His name”
That verse tells us that John’s goal was, first, to affirm the d______of Jesus Christ, and Second,
to bring people to the point of placing their f______in Him.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”
John 1:11-12 “11 He (Referring to Jesus) came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even
to those who believe in His name”
John 1:14“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten
from the Father, full of grace and truth”

Acts 4:4“…many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about
five thousand”
The Evangelist on this occasion was John the Baptist, and John’s main goal was to prepare the Jews
for the c______of their M______.
Mark 1:3 “(John the Baptist came to)…MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD,…(and to) MAKE HIS
PATHS STRAIGHT’” (Emphasis Added)
Matt 3:7-10 “7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them,
‘You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Therefore bear fruit
in keeping with repentance; 9 and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, 'We have
Abraham for our father'; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children
to Abraham. 10 The axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not
bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire”
Matt 3:11 "As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I,
and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire”
Question = Why Did John the Baptist Preach Like That?
Answer = Because This is ______
Acts 2:37“(They were)…pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Brethren,

and the one whom you now have is not your husband;…”
John 4:39“…many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified,
‘He told me all the things that I have done.’”
One reason that I believe contact evangelism is still effective is because the work of evangelism
is always e______.

plants and becomes a tree, so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR come and NEST IN ITS BRANCHES."
