BA Modern History and Politics

COURSE CHOICES FOR 2010-2011

Please read these notes carefully before completing forms.

Students must take courses to the value of FOUR UNITS as follows:

1.One Group 3 course (taught course and dissertation)2 UNITS

2.One Group 2 course1 UNIT

3.HS3105: Dissertation Research Skills (compulsory, term 1)½ UNIT

4. HS3103: Comparative History (compulsory, term 2)½ UNIT

Notes:

Students may enrol in either a Group 2 or a Group 3 course offered at another college in the University of London. When making an inter-collegiate choice, you should select it only as a first- or second-choice in your list of preferences.

You may substitute a Level 3course (1 unit) from the PIR department for your Group 2 course. Places on PIR courses are limited. Please see information on the Course Choices pages of the History Department’s website for further information; and contact Dr Laidlaw before 9 March 2010for further details and availability.

If in doubt, please consult the ‘Undergraduate Students’ pages of the departmental website where you will find information about degree programmes, the courses running in 2010-11 and inter-collegiate courses. Your personal tutor is also available to discuss course choices.

Forms must be posted in the box outside the Departmental Administrator’s office (McCrea318) by Tuesday 9 March 2010, 12noon, if you are selecting an inter-collegiate course as one of your options; or by Tuesday 16 March, 12noon, if you only wish to take courses at RHUL.

Forms received after the deadline, or forms which do not list five choices, will only be attended to during the second round of place allocations. Late submission therefore seriously damages your chances of securing a place on your preferred course.
