INFORMATION ABOUT THE DAY

County MAD is an activity day for teams of 4 to 6 people. It will test your ability to think logically, to work as a team, and most importantly of all to have fun.

You will be up against the clock and each other, in a sequence of challenges around Walesby Forest Scout Centre. Not all of the challenges are what they seem!

The event is split into two categories: -

(1) Scouts and Guides

(2) Explorer Scouts and Rangers

The event is held at Walesby Forest Scout Centre, Brake Road, Walesby, Near Ollerton. Car parking is available free of charge.

All teams must be booked in at the County MAD reception no later than 10.00am on the day, ready for a 10.30am start. The event including the prize giving will finish at 3:45pm.

Leaders or Parents will not be permitted to walk round with their team(s) during the event, unless previously agreed with the event chairman.

Hot snacks will be available to purchase during the lunch break at a small charge.

The entrance fee for this day will be £25.00 per team; there will be no discount for teams of fewer than 6 people. Full payment for the event must be included with the application form.

GUIDANCE NOTES FOR ALL COMPETITORS

1. The day is at the beginning of March so it will probably be very cold and no doubt wet. You will be out of doors for the majority of the time so please wear warm clothing and have your waterproofs with you. Any person not suitably dressed will be prevented from taking part in the event. NB We strongly recommend that jeans are not worn for this event

2. Each member of the team must wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes. Competitors in trainers or Wellington boots will not be permitted to take part in certain challenges.

3. Teams may wish to bring a packed lunch.

4. Each team must bring with them the following kit that may or may not assist them with some of the challenges: -

Necker – 1 per team member One (1) team member to be dressed as a famous David

Watch One (1) leek PER TEAM MEMBER

Unbreakable mug – 1 per team member Bunch of spring onions

Waterproofs per team member “Home made” daffodil badge OR hat per team member

5. A County MAD medical form will be required for every team member; this will be used for the benefit of the First Aider on site. The forms will be sent to teams on receipt of a completed application form, or can be downloaded from the website. THEY MUST BE RETURNED ON THE DAY ONLY. Only County MAD medical forms are acceptable, any team member not having a completed MAD medical form will not be permitted to take part in ANY activity.

(These forms are for the sole use of County MAD and will be destroyed at the end of the day, the information provided will not be passed to a third party)

6. Any team wishing to camp for the weekend may do so, by contacting Walesby campsite directly.

7. Any leader/parent wishing to help on the day can do so by contacting the event chairman or application secretary.

8. The organiser’s decision on all matters is final. Any complaints must be made in writing to the Event Chairman within 30 days of the event.

9. Any team using abusive language or seen to be behaving in a disruptive or dishonest manner will be disqualified from this and future events.

10. Penknives are not permitted for this event and should not be brought to site.
