Golden Apple Foundation Awards nearly $5,000
to Teachers for Classroom Projects
(12/11/12) Golden Apple Foundation is pleased to announce the selection of the following 11 Teachers who received a total of $4,989.29 to fund 6 classroom projects. The teachers were recognized at the Golden Apple Foundation Board of Directors meeting on Monday, December 10, 2012.

“Tail Waggin’ Tutors”- Overcoming apprehension at reading by providing a relaxed environment where all threats of being judged are set aside as the child relaxes. / Melodie Boyd / Cherry Valley Elementary School / $400.00
“Improving Competencies in Science & Reading”-Improves student performance in both science and reading by providing support materials that allow students of all reading levels to access grade-level science information and also improves reading level. / Susan Busker & Renee Guse / Whitehead Elementary School / $1,250.00

The projects selected address various crucial learning issues such as improved writing skills, reading comprehension, and early childhood learning. All projects exhibit a focus on creative ways to encourage achievement in all subjects.
Golden Apple Foundation opened the application process this fall to PreK-5th grade Teachers throughout Winnebago and Boone County for projects that would enhance their classroom learning but would go unfunded under the regular school budget. Since its inception, Golden Apple Foundation has provided funding to 211 educators for 170 projects totaling over $100,000. Recipients will be recognized at the 17th Annual Golden Apple Banquet held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Radisson Hotel.
