A World of Possibilities for Birders

Marietta, Ohio, June 9, 2017—Imagine a magical place where everything you need to fully immerse yourself in your favorite hobby is available. Even better—this magical place also lets you connect with thousands of other enthusiasts just like you!

For bird watchers, that place is the American Birding Expo, which has been called “the world of birding in one place.” The Expo attracts exhibitors from all over the world—more than 100 total—among them companies, destinations, manufacturers, and organizations focused on connecting with the rapidly growing community of birders in North America.

“The American Birding Expo is a place where birding consumers and birding businesses can connect, but it’s also a gathering of the bird-watching community at large,” said Bill Thompson, III, founder and director of the Expo. “In addition to all the commerce and exchange of information that occurs, there’s a fantastic, synergy that allows us to share ideas, to reach out to new bird watchers, and to support bird conservation, too.”

After two successful years in Columbus, Ohio, the 2017 American Birding Expo is moving to southeastern Pennsylvania. With thousands of active birders among the expected attendees this year, the Expo is also reaching out to the region’s nature lovers and potential new birders with some free presentations and morning bird walks at several local venues. Sunday at the Expo is Family Day, with kids’ activities and live birds from the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove.

“Birding is the perfect hobby for nearly everyone. It’s easy to get started. It’s a great way to make new friends. And best of all, it gets you outside—which makes you healthier and happier!” Thompson added.

The 2017 American Birding Expo will be held September 29 to October 1 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania, about 30 minutes northwest of downtown Philadelphia. A weekend pass is just $10 (plus a small credit card fee) and can be purchased in advance on the Expo’s TicketLeap page, or at the door. Information on the Expo’s hours, special programs and bird walks can be found at birdingexpo.com.

The American Birding Expo is hosted and managed by Bird Watcher’s Digest magazine.
