Folding Money

Visually-impaired persons can use a folding money system to easily identify paper money denominations. Use faster folds for most used paper money denominations.

Folding a One-dollar Bill

The one-dollar bill is not folded at all.

Folding a Five-dollar Bill

The five-dollar bill is folded in half, lengthwise.

Folding a Ten-dollar Bill

The ten-dollar bill is folded in half, widthwise.

Folding a Twenty-dollar Bill

The twenty-dollar bill is folded twice...Or folded in half, again.

Folding a Fifty-dollar Bill

The fifty-dollar bill is a ten folded twice...Or folded in half, again.

Folding a 100-dollar Bill

The 100-dollar bill is folded like a 50…And then folded in half again, making a square.

Folding a Two-dollar Bill

The two-dollar bill is folded in half from each end to middle.

In a Wallet

Store 1-dollar bills on top, then 5’s, then 10’s of the large main money compartment.

Large bills may be stored in a separate compartment in a wallet, purse or pocketbook.

Go to the bank, as soon as possible with larger bills.

Folding Money Tips

Make a good, firm crease to ensure the bills stay folded correctly.

Take the time to fold your money immediately when it is received.
