Dear Parents,

In order to become familiar with the flavor and systems of Europe, your child will research a European country. They will use this research for two different purposes. First, they will create a folder project depicting their country and will present the information to their class. They will also create a presentation different from the folder project to share with first graders on Dec. 20th in the cafeteria.

Folder Project: The folder and presentationto the class will count as a test grade. I have explained this project in detail today in class showing examples of not-so-great folders, and students were each given a file folder. Graphs will be done in the computer lab. NO printed pictures will be allowed on the folder.

The folder should represent the culture of their country through DRAWN pictures, added cut outs, shaping the folder, or other creative measures. For example, if Japan were their country, they might make their folder into a landscape with the sun rising out of the top since it is nicknamed “The Land of the Rising Sun.” The information might be on lanterns floating in a pond in a garden since they are famous for their Japanese gardens. Technology would be evident throughout the folder as well. If their country is famous for something, that should be reflected throughout the folder. ALL information from their country report paper, which is completed in class, must be on the folder. This accounts for 48 points on the rubric.

The completed folder is due on Dec.12, 2017. Presentations will begin that day. The grading rubric is on the back of this letter. Please keep the top information, sign the bottom and return this form indicating that you are aware of this project and its deadlines.
