Presidential ‘Facebook’ Profile Project

Overview

Congratulations! You have been selected by the History Channel to design a Facebook profile for a past President of the United States. The purpose of this profile will be to teach young people about the lives of America’s leaders and the legacies they left. Your assignment includessubmitting a power point presentation outlining the various features you want to include in the profile of your assigned president, as well as an explanation of your reasoning for including these features.

Objectives

Identify, explain and evaluate the lives and achievements of a President of the United States.

Interpret and analyze their impact on America.

Connect past with present.

Sequence

  1. First, you will be assigned a President of the United States to design a Facebook profile for. You will need to research this president’s life, accomplishments and legacy through various sources. These sources may include books, journal articles, online resources and databases available through Simsbury High School. Please be sure to cite your sources and includea works cited slide at the end of your presentation.
  1. Then, design your power point presentation outlining what you want to include in the Facebook profile for this president. Although, you have flexibility in deciding which features you want to include you must connect to the main features of a president’s legacy.

Required Topics: You must include each of the following topics

Name, Birthday, Hometown Activities and Interests, Profile Picture, Quotes, Friends List, Status, Wall containing posts that associate with this president

Recommended Topics: You must include at least four of the following topics

Relationship Status, Groups, Movies, Music, Television Shoes Relationship Status, Family, Photo Albums, Any other Facebook related applications

  1. In the notes section of your power point presentation, you must provide explanations on how what you are including relates to your president. (I.e. Picture George Washington on Horse ‘Nelson;’ Was how Washington actually built his image)
  1. In the notes section of the final Works Cited Slide, you must include what the legacy of your president is. This explanation must include how this person shaped the future of America and the Presidency itself.
  1. You must present your power point to the class. This presentation must include an overview of this president’s‘Facebook page’ and an explanation on the legacy of your president.

Due Date: Thursday, October 6th

Grading: Grading will be determined by the following factors

Completeness of Presentation: Includes all required and at least four recommended categories

Relation of material to President: Material is both accurate and relative to the life and legacy of the President. Explanations on each slide are detailed.

Works Cited: Works Cited Slide is included and completed using MLA format

Legacy of President: A description of the legacy this president left on both the country and the office is accurate and detailed.

Creativity: The power point is neat and items includes creatively connect to this President

Presentation to Class: The Presentation to class is clear, shows preparation and includes valuable information on the President’s life and legacy.
