FLOWER FUND GUIDELINES

The JDCC Flower Fund was established as a way for employees to show support and encouragement to colleagues during significant events in their lives. All college employees are encouraged to participate in the fund by donating $2.00 per month through payroll deduction.

The Business Office handles all purchases from the flower fund account. An employee’s supervisor or division chair is responsible for notifying the business office in writing (email) of the employee’s situation. The employee (participating or non-participating flower fund member) or employee’s family member should receive a gift from the referenced list below.

EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY

  • Flowers not to exceed $100 (including wiring, transfer, and delivery fees) will be given for death of employee, death of employee’s spouse, death of employee’s child, death of a retired employee, death of an employee’s mother or father.

  • If requested, in lieu of flowers, a $ 100 donation will be given to a designated organization for death of employee, death of employee’s spouse, death of employee’s child, death of a retired employee, death of an employee’s mother or father.

  • Flowers or plant not to exceed $60 (including wiring, transfer, and delivery fees) will be given for death of an employee’s mother-in-law or father-in-law.

  • A $25 donation to the JDCC Foundation Scholarship Fund will be given for death of spouse of living retiree.

  • Card will be mailed for death of close relative. (Employee is responsible for providing name and address)

HOSPITALIZATION

  • Flowers, plant, or gift not to exceed $60 (including wiring transfer and delivery fees) will be given for hospitalization of employee, hospitalization of employee’s spouse, hospitalization of employee’s child living at home.

  • Card will be mailed for hospitalization of employee’s close relative. (Employee is responsible for providing name and address.)

BIRTH/ADOPTION

  • Flowers, plant, or gift not to exceed $60 (including wiring, transfer, and delivery fees) will be given for adoption or birth of a child of employee.

GIFTS

  • Gift not to exceed $50 will be given for marriage of employee.

  • Gift not to exceed $50 will be given for retirement of employee.

RETIRING EMPLOYEES

  • Reception not to exceed $300 (including flowers) will be given in honor of a retiring employee with ten years or more of service at JDCC. (The Office of Administration and Personnel will coordinate the reception with input from the department head, or designee, of the retiree.)

  • If requested: In lieu of a reception, a donation of $150 will be given to the JDCC Foundation Scholarship Fund in honor of a retiring employee.
