Today,AT&T is launching a service brandto help drive awareness and adoption of the FirstNet network and services.AT&T has designed a specialized and commercial-grade brand and logo for the FirstNet service that will be used to highlight network products and services to public safety. Creating this brand differentiates FirstNet service and will help public safety identify the FirstNet solution and the lifesaving technology it offers first responders in communities across our nation.

The Northern Mariana Islands opted in to the FirstNet network last week. All 56 states and territories have opted in, solidifying full, nationwide participation for the FirstNet network.

FirstNet participated in the National Emergency Number Association’s (NENA) Next Generation 9-1-1 Standards and Best Practices Conference last week in Kissimmee, Florida.

FirstNet staff also presented to several groups and held an exhibit booth last week at Fire Rescue East in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Also last week, FirstNet staff provided a program update at the Ohio FirstNet public safety/broadband conference in Columbus.

The FirstNet tribal team attended a meeting of the National Tribal Telecom Association last week in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This week, FirstNet will participate in the Baltimore-Washington Area Commercial Real Estate Public Safety & Connectivity Summit in Laurel, Maryland; a meeting with the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas in Eagle Pass, Texas; the Wisconsin Working Together Conference in Milwaukee; a meeting with the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas in Livingston, Texas; a meeting of the New Hampshire Statewide Interoperable Executive Committee Data Committee in Concord; the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs Winter Board Meeting in Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and the Delaware State Fire Chief’s Meeting in Townsend.

Urgent Communications 1/19: Northern Mariana Islands ‘opt-in’ decision gives FirstNet clean sweep of states and territories

Northern Mariana Islands Gov. Ralph DeLeon Guerrero Torres today announced that he has accepted the nationwide public-safety broadband network (NPSBN) deployment plan offered by FirstNet and AT&T, meaning all 56 states and territories in the U.S. have made an “opt-in” decision.

Richmond 2day1/17: Richmondamong first in nation to use new public safety wireless network

Richmond’s Department of Emergency Communications recently began testing this new network, called FirstNet, and expects to have it in use throughout the city by the end of 2018.

Axios 1/16: First responders are getting their radio network — from AT&T

Police and firefighters are finally getting the priority communications network they were promised in the wake of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. In exchange for building it, AT&T gets $6.5 billion in government funds over the next five years and access to a large chunk of valuable airwaves for 25 years.

Web and Social Media

FirstNet’s social media presence grew at its normal rate last week. Twitter gained 64 new followers, now at 8,984. Facebook has 2,477 followers. LinkedIn now has 3,723 followers. YouTube has 672 subscribers.
