Monday, July 16, 2018

12:20 Hours – Fire fighters responded toan alarm activation on Main St N in Acton. On scene fire staff met with building personnel who advised that their system was being worked on and the monitoring company had not been advised. Fire confirmed false alarm and cleared the scene.

14:59 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Queen St E in Acton. On scene fire staff provided patient care until Halton Regional Paramedics arrived.

19:20 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Dublin Line in Acton. Upon arrival alarm bells could be heard. Fire staff entered the building and confirmed no reason for the alarm activation. The alarm was reset with no further concerns.

14:34 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Eaton St. Halton Regional Paramedics were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff assisted with loading the patient onto the ambulance and cleared the scene.

15:53 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision on First Line, Nassagaweya in Milton. Guelph paramedics were on scene upon arrival providing patient care. Fire staff disabled the vehicle and provided traffic control.

Wednesday, July 18, 2018

20:23 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of an unknown odour on Niagara Trail. On scene a smell of burning rubber or plastic was found inside the home. Crews checked the residence with a gas detector, with zero readings found. The cause of the odour could not be located. It is suspected that a possible electrical gang outlet in the living room. Fire staff ventilated the home and advised the homeowner to replace the electrical outlet with a high quality certified power bar.

09:01 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Sixth Line. On scene fire staff found no concerns or reason for the activation and cleared the scene.

10:25 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Guelph & Draper Streets in Norval. On scene fire staff were advised they were not required.

15:24 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Steeles Ave. On scene fire staff met with security who advised that a pull station had been accidentally activated in the parking garage. Fire staff confirmed the false alarm and ensured the alarm panel was reset and cleared the scene.

18:40 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a police assist on Hall Road. Halton Regional Paramedics were on scene upon arrival. On scene fire staff assisted with patient care and cleared the scene.

Friday, July 20, 2018

08:43 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a gas leak on Main St S in Acton. On scene fire staff were advised that gas was leaking under the stairs from the main gas meter. Gas was leaking out of the vent and fire staff shut off the main gas valve. Dispatch was notified to contact Union Gas to respond to fix the problem. No further concerns.

11:01 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on River Dr. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. The CO alarm on the second floor appeared to be malfunctioning. Fire staff replaced the alarm and cleared the scene.

Sunday, July 22, 2018

07:36 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a public assist on Victoria St. While enroute fire was advised they were no longer required.

08:11 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Old Pine Crest Rd. On arrival found that alarm activation was a false activation from cooking. Staff assisted with resetting the alarm and cleared scene.

Weekly Safety Message

The leading cause of dryer fires is a lack of maintenance. Inspect and clean the lint screen after each load and regularly remove lint from the metal ducts and exhaust vents. The build-up of lint can lead to a fire.
