“Worksheet: Researching Career Profiles”

Think of a career profile as an outline of what is involved in working in a particular career. In this activity, you will develop a career profile by conducting some in-depth research on your selected career.

Researching Your Selected Music or Music-Related Career

There are a number of resources you can tap to obtain information on your selected career. There is plenty of online information available, and this may be the fastest way to obtain good information. As in the previous exercise, notice what type of site you are accessing. You can also use books and magazines, or your local librarian.

If you access more than one site to obtain information, or if you do use other resources besides web sites, copy all or part of the table below and paste it at the bottom of this worksheet as needed to accommodate multiple sources. If you are completing this worksheet in print, simply use additional copies of the worksheet.

  1. Using a search engine, Google for example, conduct a search on your selected career, for example, “booking agent.”
  1. Click links for search results that appear promising and review the selected site for relevant career information. If the site contains relevant information, proceed to the next step. If not, review additional sites until you find a relevant one.
  1. Use the questions below as a guide for finding information about your career and record your results in the answer cell for each question.
  1. Repeat this process until you have been able to satisfactorily answer these questions to create your career profile.
