Work Experience in Orthopedics:
I did my post-graduation (M.S. Orthopedics) with Gold Medal from Government Medical College, Amritsar. It is a government regional tertiary care center. I learnt basic skills in management of trauma and cold orthopedic cases (congenital, degenerative, infection, etc.). Training involved supervised management of trauma in elective and emergency cases. I received training in:
Basic trauma life support
Closed fracture reduction techniques and functional cast bracing
Tendon and ligament repairs, cruciate ligament reconstruction, nerve repair and vascular repair in peripheral arteries
AO plating and nailing techniques
External fixation techniques for upper limb and lower limb fractures
Pediatric orthopedic procedures, such as varus derotation osteotomy for Perthes disease, corrective osteotomies, SCFE pinning, CTEV surgery (including JESS for CTEV)
Hemiarthroplasty hip joint using Austin Moore prosthesis, Thompson’s prosthesis and bipolar prosthesis
Hip joint arthroplasty (Charnley’s and Bimodular Hip replacement)
Knee joint arthroplasty (fixed and rotating platform knee replacement, revision knee replacement)
