1. / Minutes of the Last Meeting:
The Minutes of the Meeting held on 19th May 2014 were agreed as a true and accurate record.
2. / Matters Arising:
None
3. / Annual Reports from Committees:
a) Joymead Trust – no report received. Peter Stanton reported that the Chair of the Joymead Trust is away and may not have been aware of the need for a report to the Annual Parish Meeting. It was noted that Councillor Robin Brown and the Parish Council had jointly provided funds for repairs in the Joymead and that a successful Spring clean-up had been undertaken. Any other matters to be reported to the next Parish Council meeting.
b)Knightley Trust – John Church reported that this is under Paul Heygate’s wing. Currently there is £21.78 in one account and £122.22 in a second account. Nothing has happened in the last 12 months. The original purpose was to provide a Sunday school in the village. The only expenditure in the past has been an RE prize for Blakesley CE School. Peter Stanton noted that other villages have similar charities and maybe we could combine with them to use the funds effectively. It was agreed that a councillor would discuss with Paul Heygate to get his view. If someone has this discussion please email round so we don’t all ask him.
c)Sheppard Charity – John Church reported that he meets annually with the churchwardens and agree beneficiaries in the village usually around December. Often older or unwell members of the village. He reported that these are very small amounts and more a token gift. In December 2014 there were 8 donations. The balance at the end of January 2015 was £27.76 with an annual income of just under £100.
d)Village Hall – no report received as Chris Fitzgerald has done this in the past. The VH Chair may not have been aware of the need for a report.
The question was asked of the role of the Parish Council in this – and it is to oversee and assure ourselves that charities and trusts are operating as they should be.
It was agreed that in future the four charities should be asked in advance to attend the meeting with a 5 minute update or presentation on what has happened in the last 12 months and plans for the next 12 months. / ALL
