Family News in 2007:
Mike and Margaret Sena have moved to Georgia.
After the hard work of settling Grandma Lola's affairs, Mike has taken Margaret to be closer to her family. Her mom, Grandma Baynard, brothers and sisters and son Matthew will surely love having them close by. We understand that Mike has already found a couple of families from New Mexico and plan to get together to make some tamales for Christmas. Good luck and keep in touch!

Deaths:Posted 03/14/2007: Robert "Gordy" Gutierrez, 39 and his brother in law were killed in a car accident this morning driving from Farmington, NM. Gordy was on his way to Albuquerque to be with his sister Theresa Tapia while Johnny recovered from his recent hospitalization. Gordy was the son of the late Robert "Bobby" Gutierrez. Our cousin Gordy had a big heart and always full of smiles and laughs. Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife Gina, their little boy and girl and to the entire family. Service times will be posted as soon as they are known.

GUTIERREZ -- Robert A. Gutierrez, 39, passed away March 13, 2007. Robert, "Robert G." to friends, and "Gordy" to family; will be forever remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor; having the ability to make anyone laugh. His commitment to his family was also seen in his work, being involved in boxing since 1997, working as an assistant trainer and being a dedicated corner man. Robert will be missed, and will leave a great void to the people who remember a man so full of life and song. He is preceded in death by his dad, Bobby A. Gutierrez. He is survived by his wife Virginia Gutierrez; mother Anita Gutierrez and grandmother Angelita Mora; son Roberto Arturo Gutierrez; daughter Adrianna Anita Gutierrez; brother J. Anthony Gutierrez; sisters Marie K. Gutierrez, Teresa C. Tapia, Eva Chavez, and Angela Gutierrez; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Salazar and Sons Mortuary, Sunday March 18, 2007. A Rosary for Robert will be recited Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at HolyFamilyChurch. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at HolyFamilyChurch. Interment will take place at The San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Gutierrez, Salo Chavez, Johnny Tapia, Ivan Chavez, Ruben Esquibel, and Chuck Mitchell. REMEMBERING LOLA
During this blessed season of lent, I can't help but think of Grandma Lola Sena. I remember coming home from school and finding treats on the table of aroz dulce (sweet rice), quelites (spinach and beans), torta de huevo (little egg tarts in red chile), panocha (an Indian pudding made with sprout wheat flour) and pastelitos (little fruit pies). She would make enough to split between her daughters and their families, her nieces and nephews and friends she visited or stopped by to see her. We are very lucky to have these memories of her.

WOODARD, Ronald Gene
Born June 2, 1933. Passed away April 2, 2007 at Kaiser, Morse Ave., after taking a fall in his back yard, from which he was unable to recover. He was surrounded by his family and friends. He was a kind, loving and accepting person. Born in Fair Oaks, he lived in the home that his mom and dad, James (Ben) and Lilah, built, along with his sister, Shirley M. Van Devort, who he now joins in heaven. He retired from Aerojet and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Korean War. Beloved father of Jeffery and daughter-in-law Lourdes, Randy, Laurie and her fiance Craig. Also survived by grandchildren Jeffrey and Jessica, nephews Gary, Larry and Ted, nieces Sherry and Chris, brother Jim Woodard and his wife Judy, and brother-in-law Gene, his mother's children Pat Martin and his friend Jesse Gutierrez. He requested no services, and will be cremated and then scattered over Lake Tahoe.

Ron was Uncle Jesse's very best friend. Many of us had the pleasure of meeting and spending a little time with him during his visits to Albuquerque with Uncle Jesse or when visiting Uncle Jesse in Sacramento, California. Our prayers go out to Ron's family and Friends.

LOPEZ -- Justo Lopez, age 93, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin, was called to Eternal Life by the Lord, Saturday, December 8, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. at SantoToribioChurch. Interment will follow at the PonderosaCommunityCemetery. Justo will be remembered by the Gutierrez family because he gave our dad, Ray Gutierrez, the Cupil (the head dress) he wore when dad was a danzante. The Cupil and Palma now belongs to my sister Frances. She has it beautifully displayed with pictures of dad in her curio cabinet in her home in Las Cruces, NM.

We welcomed Josiah Aden Velarde to our family on Saturday, June 9, 2007 @ 11:34 am. He weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz. and is 19" long. He is the son of Jonathon & Cece. He looks just like his dad, but has Great Grandpa Gutierrez's nose.
