NHS March Agenda

SPRING CHAPTER PROJECT INFORMATION: We will be hosting a Refugee Drive and in International Day Festival. For the drive, we will be collecting donations for local refugee centers, and for the festival we will help run booths. 2017-18 OFFICER Forms Available – See advisers if you are interested in running for an officer position next year. Forms are due by March 31st at 4 pm to H213. All candidates MUST also attend a candidate meeting at 4 pm in H213 on March 31st – no exceptions. See Gidley if you have questions.

Extracurricular Appreciation:

· On March 10th at 8:20am, we will be bringing in homemade baked goods for the Softball Team before their game against in Westlake in room K106. It is 30 minutes per dozen for a max of 1 hour for 2 dozen.

Community Beautification:

· On March 15th at 4:00pm, we will be sorting Terracycling in room C204.

· On March 25th from 11:00am to 1:00pm, we will be attending the Keep Austin Beautiful Event: Euphoria Pre-Festival Carson Creek Clean Up at Carson Creek Ranch 9507 Sherman Rd Austin, TX 78742.

Community Service:

· Crisis Ministries (107 Ranch Rd 620 S, Lakeway, TX 78734) will be taking volunteers every Wednesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm or from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.

· On April 1st at 6:25pm, we will be welcoming home U.S. war veterans as they arrive at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport!

· Throughout March, we will be hosting a Crisis Ministries Food Drive. Boxes will be found in the front office, cafeteria, and annex office.

Faculty Appreciation:

· On March 9th from 8:00-8:30am, we will be hosting the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast in the A100 Teacher’s Lounge (Next to the Rotunda). You will receive 30 minutes for bringing food and 30 minutes for staying to talk with faculty members.

· On March 28th from 4-5pm, we will be making posters that will be put up on teachers’ door in the room C204.

Social Outreach

· From March 1st to March 3rd, we will have tables in the cafeteria where people can pledge not to use the “R” word. NHS Students can help at the table and help get people to pledge. Spread the Word to End the Word tables will be set up during each lunch.

· On March 8th from 4-5pm, we will be cleaning up the life skills garden, so the life skills students can begin to plant flowers for the spring. Please bring garden tools if possible. The life skills garden is outside by the cafeteria.

Kids

· On March 20th from 5-8pm, we will be helping with faculty babysitting in the A200 Teacher’s Lounge.

Tutoring

· Every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5pm, we will be tutoring in room M113 in the annex.

· We will also be offering peer tutoring. Dates and locations are up to you, but we prefer that you use room M113.

Senior Citizens

· On March 11th from 3-4pm, we will be helping with Music + Bingo Night at Grace House (11825 Bee Cave Road Austin, TX 78738).

International Outreach:

· Before school on Wednesday March 22nd and Wednesday March 29th at 8am we will be selling wristbands in the Rotunda.

Wellness Outreach:

· On March 25th from 9am-12pm, we will be delivering plastic bags to Micah 6 (2203 San Antonio St, Austin, TX 78705).

· From March 1st to March 24th, we will be collecting plastic bags for Micah 6 in rooms H213, K106, and K207.

Animal Outreach:

· On Sunday March 26th from 2-4pm, we will be aiding the Thundering Paws Animal Sanctuary (11900 Fitzhugh Corners, Dripping Springs, TX 78620).

· On March 8th from 4-5pm, we will be making animal poisonous food awareness posters in room C204.

· On Friday March 24th, we will be hosting an Outdoor Movie Night on the Football Field.
