EXTENSION OF THE ITER HEADQUARTERS BUILDING

SUMMARY OF SCOPE OF WORK FOR CALL FOR NOMINATION

1Introduction

The ITER Project is a joint international research project that aims to demonstrate the scientific and technical feasibility of nuclear fusion power. The members involved in the ITER Project are China, the European Union, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and the United States. ITER is being constructed in Europe, at Cadarache in the South of France. The construction of the ITER Tokamak and its associated plant systems represent one of the world’s largest and most ambitious projects in terms of scope, cost and schedule.

The ITER Organization intends to place aConstruction Contract to perform the construction of the extension of the ITER HeadquartersBuilding (72), in order to accomodate additional staffwithing the building (approximately 350). The constructionis envisaged to last 12 months, starting inApril2013.

The main characteritics of the extension are :

-Dimensions: 35m x 20m x 18m (LxWxH)

-Number of floors: 6 (including basement)

-Total floor area: 3300 m2

The extension will be compatible with the current building permit. It will include the following rooms:

  • Offices
  • Meeting rooms
  • Copy/print rooms areas
  • Cafeteria areas
  • Toilet facilities
  • Technical rooms

2Scope of the services

The scope of the services to be performed by the tenderer awarded for the contract will cover the execution of the constructionof the new building, in accordance with the architect’s design, including, but not limited to :

  • Earthworks;
  • Concrete works;
  • Masonry;
  • Cladding works;
  • Waterproofing works;
  • Finishing works;
  • Electrical installations;
  • Low current installations;
  • HVAC;
  • Plumbing;
  • Lifts.

The contruction contract will be based on the Conditions of Contract for Construction issued by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).

3Prerequisites for participation in the Call for Tender

As a basic prerequisite for participation in the Call for Tender to be issued by the ITER Organization, applicants shall notably demonstrate relevant experience in public constructions, and particularly large scale officeachievements. The pre-qualification criteria will be defined in the pre-qualification documents to be issued to all nominated applicants.

5Candidature

Participation is open to all legal persons participating either individually or in a grouping (consortium) which is established in an ITER Member State. A consortium may be a permanent, legally-established grouping or a grouping, which has been constituted informally for a specific tender procedure. All members of a consortium (i.e. the leader and all other members) are jointly and severally liable to the ITER Organization.

The consortium groupings shall be presented at the pre-qualification stage. The tenderer’s composition cannot be modified without the prior approval of the ITER Organization after the pre-qualification.
