Job Description – BI Developer

Role Title: / Senior BI Developer
Grade 3 / Reporting To: / BI Intelligence Manager
Role Purpose:
·  To aid the delivery of high quality BI reporting solutions as part of the Central BI Team
·  Support the delivery of the team objectives
·  Support the Databases Services team to ensure SQL database performance and provide internal database consultancy
Key Accountabilities
Business Intelligence:
·  Architect the ERS BI Solution to meet the business information needs to provide a flexible, robust and supported set of data analysis tools
·  Ensure the production of high quality BI reporting solutions (e.g. BI reports, dashboards, financial reports) to an agreed schedule and following the agreed team standards and processes
·  Ensure that agreed level of documentation and handover is completed to enable the support and continued development of the BI solutions delivered
·  Liaise with business personnel to review, refine and document business requirements
·  Support the continuous improvement of BI technical environment to ensure required service levels are met and known service issues are resolved
·  Ensure the operational support of the BI solution to the agreed business SLA’s
·  Share knowledge and expertise with other team members to enable continued team skills development
·  Participate in BI and business meetings and take ownership of relevant action points throughout the escalation process to achieve satisfactory results
· 
Database Services:
·  Support the DBA team activities to ensure the performance of the business SQL database environments meet the required SLA’s
·  Provide consultancy to business and technology services teams on SQL database related subjects.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Experience/knowledge of delivering Business Intelligence solutions using:
·  T-SQL Development (MS SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2012)
·  MS Integration Services (SSIS) including development of full DW ETL Solutions
·  MS Analysis Services (SSAS) for complex cube reporting solutions
·  MS Reporting Services (SSRS) including development of complex reports
·  Kimball Dimensional Modelling Methodology
Experience/knowledge of the following system would also be advantageous:
·  MS SharePoint (Including PerformancePoint)
·  Team Foundation Server or Visual Sourcesafe
Experience of the following business areas would be advantageous:
·  Leading a multi-skilled technical team
·  Insurance sector (Lloyds Syndicate, Underwriting, Broking)
·  Solvency II
Qualifications
·  MCSE BI Certification Desirable
·  Should be degree educated or have long standing technical experience

·  Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, being able to liaise with staff at all levels around issues and opportunities
·  Can do attitude – Make things happen
·  Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail
·  Strong customer focus with the ability to develop productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders

The role is based in our Swansea office although travel to other Company offices will be required when the role demands
