Your project will consist of five parts:

·  A timeline that consists of at least six (6) events, with dates listed

·  An illustration of the flag of the country the explorer represented

·  A map showing the route(s) the explorer took

·  A picture of the explorer (illustrated or a printed photo)

·  A bibliography (to include citations from at least two sources)

TIMELINE GUIDELINES/REMINDERS

·  The project can be completed on a large sheet of construction paper (12 X 18), a poster board or a presentation board.

·  Everything must be done very neatly.

·  The timeline must include at least 6 events such as (but not limited to): dates of birth, death, name of ship the explorer traveled on when they began their expeditions to the New World and their accomplishments on their expedition.

·  The timeline must be large enough to be readable at a distance. You can trace the events in pen or black marker NEATLY. You can also get creative and use various letters or real world print (from magazines, or newspapers).

·  The picture of the explorer can be illustrated or a photo from online. Either must be in color.

·  The flag may be illustrated (hand drawn) and colored using crayons or colored pencils or printed in color. A template (blank map) of the world will be provided. On the map, shade in the background-don’t leave any part of the page white (unless it’s suppose to be white).

·  On the route map, the continent and oceans should be labeled with a black or red marker or pen.

·  You must use at least two sources to find information for your report.

·  Don’t forget to include the explorer’s ENTIRE name as your title for the project.
