You are an explorer searching for a new route to North America. You need to complete the following tasks in order to reach the New World.

Material Needed:

World Map or Atlas

Internet

Reference materials

Poster Board

Markers/ Colored pencils

Construction Paper

  1. Create a map of your voyage and put it on your map on the poster board. Identify the country where your voyage originated. Note the direction of your voyage, some of the countries you will pass, as well as waterways you will travel.
  1. Drawa picture of the type of ship you will use for your journey. Writea personal quotation that your explorer might have made. Include a picture if possible.
  1. Identifyon your map where your explorer ended his journey.
  1. List all of the supplies you willneed (keep in mind the year of your voyage) and identify any person(s) who might have helped to get you voyage started.
  1. Writea brief biographical sketch of your explorer and put it on your poster board. (Include date of birth and death)
  1. Explainyour poster to the class on the assigned day if time permits.
