Purpose / To manage a retail region – implement the shops strategy, oversee the shops operation in that region and supervise the Area Managers
Duties
Legal/Statutory Requirements
1.  Ensure that Area Managers are adequately trained to implement legislative requirements in accordance with the Office/Shops & Railway Premises Act, and Health & Safety Act.
Management Responsibilities
1.  Recruit, select and induct Area Managers.
2.  Support, motivate, appraise, develop and lead Area Managers.
3.  Provide and co-ordinate training as required.
4.  Provide Management Information as required.
5.  Liaise with the Retail Projects Manager, HR Manager, Systems Manager, and Assets/Property Manager.
6.  Management of the Donation centre operation through put the region.
Operational Duties
1.  Direct the Area Managers to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
2.  Seek opportunities for new income streams.
3.  Manage and implement appropriate existing retail projects as directed, e.g.
-  EPOS implementation,
-  Gift aid development,
-  Refurbishment of shops,
-  Increase donations.
-  Donation centres

Whilst the responsibilities listed above indicate the nature of the post, the list is non-exhaustive. In order to fulfill the requirements of the job, the individual post holder will need to demonstrate the following competencies:

Person Specification Competencies:

·  Strategic focus, demonstrating enthusiasm for DEBRA’s vision and purpose;

·  Experience in managing several Donation centres within one region.

·  Managing turnover in excess of 7.5 million

·  Commercial acumen, including ability to analyse and present management information;

·  Achievement orientated – to set challenging goals, and overcome obstacles to achieve targets;

·  Self-efficacy (confidence to self-evaluate - continually learning and developing);

·  Excellent oral and written communication skills;

·  Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to motivate, and develop good working relations;

·  Efficient IT skills;

·  Adaptability (openness to new ideas and ability to prioritise conflicting demands)

·  Positive disposition, demonstrating self-motivation
