Aim

This event aims to brief and update all relevant partners on the current picture of domestic abuse and recent local initiatives to tackle the issue across Cheshire and Merseyside. It will include a presentation of the evidence base for the NICE Pathway which aims to ensure safe and robust response to incidents of domestic abuse. It will also give an opportunity for questions and group discussion on the NICE pathway and to hear more about a forthcoming Cheshire & Merseyside domestic abuse campaign.

Learning Outcomes

1.Increased knowledge of the scale, impact and evidence base around Domestic Abuse;

2.An understanding of the NICE Domestic Violence & Abuse Pathway;

3.The relevance and application of the pathway to service improvement and commissioning within each locality;

4.Key challenges for review/implementation at locality level and for collaboration;

5.Sharing best practice nationally and across the C&M footprint;

6.An increased awareness of local campaigns, including the collaborative campaign on Domestic Abuse to be launched across Cheshire & Merseyside in early Feb 2015.

Who should attend?

Local Authority Directors of Public Health, Directors of Adult Social Services, Directors of Children’s Services, Domestic Abuse Commissioners, Chairs of Safeguarding Boards, Community Safety Partnerships, Local Authority Public Health Teams, Community safety leads, co-ordinators and service leads, Police domestic abuse leads and probation services. It will also be relevant for other Local Authoritystaff and third sector organisations.
