Epsom Riding for the Disabled Association Sponsored Ride

FUN RIDE IN AID OF EPSOM RDA

Sunday 10September 2016

Riders Information Pack

Epsom Riding for the Disabled Association (Epsom RDA) is a member of the national Riding for the Disabled Association. Run entirely by volunteers we provide disabled people with the opportunity to learn to ride to benefit their health and general well- being.

We do this from our ownstables atSt Ebba’s Farm in Epsom, where,on average, we provide a total of over 3500 rides for over 260 disabled riders during the year. The riders come from various schools, day centres and residential establishments, and at the weekend riders are often brought by their parents. We endeavour to ensure that all our riders get maximum enjoyment from their rides as well as obtaining the physical, social, educational, and emotional benefits provided by the riding, and just being at the stables.

The entry fee from the fun ride will go towards helping usmeet the costs of running the stables and land which is in excess of £6,000 a month. There is an opportunity tomeet some of the horses and helpers who volunteer for Epsom RDA.

The event will start at 10.00am from St Ebba’s Farm. Riders should report to the Secretary on arrival.Riders will be given a number to wear, and a start time which, as near as possible, will be in accordance with the stated preference on the application form.

Both rides will beginfrom St Ebba’s Farm and riders will go out in groups of 2 - 4. Refreshments available at convenient check pointon the 10 mile ride. The 4.5 mile ride is suitable for those on a lead-rein. You will be provided with written route instructions as well as amap of your route. There will also be directional signs on route and stewards at key points

The rides are not against the clock as we want riders to enjoy the scenery on the local and national nature reserves being used for the ride. There will be opportunities for cantering at suggested places on the 10 mile ride, but we would ask that riders do not gallop in these areas, consider the ground conditions and atall timesbe aware that members of the public will be around.

All riders will receive a rosette at the successful completion of the ride.

It is important that you read the Conditions of Entry form and give contact details of in case of an emergency etc.

Finally, thank you for supporting this event and helping us to continue to provide opportunities for disabled people to learn to ride. If you have any questions about this event please telephone 0208 393 0363 or e-mail visit our website
