Global Goals for Sustainable Development

GOAL 1: Zero Hunger

OBJECTIVE:

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

ACHIVEMENTS:

None

GOAL 2: Good Health & Well-Being.

OBJECTIVE:

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

ACHIVEMENTS:

None

GOAL 3: Quality Education.

OBJECTIVE:

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

ACHIVEMENTS:

None

Our Millennium development goals for 2015 were as follows:

Goal 1:

Promote gender equality and empower women

Objective:

To promote interest, develop ability and raise responsibility of women in Creative Arts

Accomplishments:

1.  Organised Legal Professionals to educate women on the importance of drawing up a Will, Pre-marital Counselling, women and multicultural aspects of life, and an overview on human rights of women.

2.  Educated women on the Value of women in the Christian society, revitalizing education in woman and other elements of being a women

3.  Promoted the use of oil lamps attached to reeds for household use in rural areas

4.  Taking a girl child to work to expose them to Corporate world

5.  Held a Seminar on Economic empowerment and exposed women on broader socio- economic opportunities

6.  Awareness campaign on issues of human trafficking and women and child abuse.

7.  Taking part in the education of women by the government and other relevant stakeholders in starting small businesses.

Goal 2:

Reduce infant mortality by 2/3

Objectives:

To provide mentoring programmes for new mothers and fathers

Accomplishments:

1.  Educated Young parents on the importance of vaccinating their babies in order to achieve a goal of Fully Immunised babies less than 1 year of age.

2.  Educated pregnant mothers about the dangers of smoking and ingesting alcohol during pregnancy.

3.  Conducted workshops on Breastfeeding, maternal health, importance of cleanliness and childcare.

4.  Educated pregnant women on the importance of attending clinic regularly and adhering to the dates given by health care givers.

5.  Educated women on the importance of giving correct information on their health issues before becoming pregnant and about previous incidents.

6.  Distributed pamphlets on information regarding infant mortality and the prevention thereof.

Goal 3:

Improve maternal health

Objectives:

To make the women aware of social issues that affects their health

Accomplishments:

1.  Health Professionals presented topics on Breast and Cervical Cancer, Mental Health, Teenage Pregnancy, dangers of Termination of pregnancy, diabetes, high blood pressure and other important health issues.

2.  Elder WMS women provided Counselling to young women on healthy living namely early Ante natal bookings, using Contraceptives and importance of annual Pap Smears and mammograms.

3.  The church was educated on the new vaccine Human Papilloma Virus for young girls from the age of 9 to combat Cervical Cancer, of which this was carried out in all Primary schools in the country.

4.  Aerobics and exercise classes were started in other societies to encourage healthy living and improve on life span on those living with different ailments.

5.  Invited health officials during meetings who came and educated women about chronic conditions in pregnancy.
