ENVI Software installation and licensing

The software is for use for educational purposes only, and will only be available/licensed for use as long as you are enrolled in ENV202/502. If you have previously undertaken a course at CDU using ENVI software, it is likely that your license will have expired and you will need to request a new one.

Follow the respective steps below to install and licence the software on either a Windows or Mac computer.

Windows

You need Administrator privileges to install the software. If you do not have such privileges, the installation process will fail because it cannot modify the system configuration.

1.  Double-click the executable file envi50sp3win64_setup.

2.  Click Yes, and follow the prompts

3.  When asked about licencing, select “Request a license if you don’t have internet access” (If you were not asked about this following installation, click Start > All Programs > ENVI 5.3 > Tools > License Wizard to see the licence options

4.  This opens a new window containing the Hostname and Host ID of your machine. Copy these into an email and send it to me () along with your full contact details.

5.  I will then forward your information on to the software supplier (Exelisvis) and they will generate a licence file for you to use. Make sure that you don’t leave it until the night before your assessment is due, or you won’t receive your license in time!

Macintosh

An X-Windows manager is required for Macintosh. The software was tested using XQuartz 2.7.8 (XQuartz is available from www.xquartz.org).

1.  Double-click the PKG file InstallENVI50sp3_Mac to begin installation of ENVI

2.  Follow the prompts.

3.  When asked about licencing, select “Request a license if you don’t have internet access” (If you were not asked about this following installation, open Finder > exelis > LicenseWizard to see the licence options).

4.  This opens a new window containing the Hostname and Host ID of your machine. Copy these into an email and send it to me () along with your full contact details.
