Remember! *

2 Peter1:12-21

It is correct to say, “God is a communicator!” In the first chapter of the Bible, two words are used some 10 times: “God said.” His purpose in communicating with people could be summarized with the word relationship. So, revelation is about relationship. Now you know the “why” of the Bible. In the words of Hebrews 1:1-2, “God spoke in the Old Testament in many ways but in the last days He has spoken to us by His Son.” So, how well have you listened? Do you remember? It’s about relationship, you know!

Questions for Discussion

1.Share some examples of famous last words. If you were to express “last words” of your own, what would you say? To whom?

2.Quick: What were Jesus’ last words? (See Mt. 28:18-20.)

3.Peter could be described as one who repeated himself. Look at 2 Peter 1:12, 13, 15; 3:1. In your ownwords, why do you think he repeated himself? (See Jude 5, 17.)

4.On a scale of 1-10, how forgetful are you when it comes to who God is and what God has done for you? (See Mark 8:14, 17-21.) How well do you remember?

5.Imagine being on the mountain with Jesus when he was transfigured (“shined like the sun” - Mt. 17:2). How well would you remember what you saw? How would you feel if people “yawned” as you retold your experience?

6.In a world that often places experience above facts, logic and reason, can you understand why Peter said what he did in 2 Pet. 1:19-21?

7.How would you describe Peter’s view of Old Testament prophecy? (See 1 Pet. 1:10-12 and 2:20-21). Do you have a similar confidence in God’s Word? How so?
