Thursday, July 3rd - (Day 1)

9-12pm-Camp Registration

12-12:30pm-Coaches Meeting in the field house

1:00pm-Camp Orientation/Coach Introductions/Camp Rules and Goals/Team Lines (10 teams of eight NCAA and NBA/ Coaches and team names). What are your goals and purpose of camp this week???Talk what it means to be a great player/shooter/scorer. Give out player packets! (Respect, Commitment, Fundamental Form and Technique, Thought process of a scorer, footwork, Efficient Training and practice techniques, Effort, Challenge yourself/get out of your comfort zone, Seriousness, Aggressiveness, Toughness (push thru), Attitude, Train w/ purpose, Leadership, Effective communication, Work Ethic, Details, Deception, Vision and Decision, Team Player, Be a Ball-player not a position, Compete, Build confidence, Fearlessness, Extension of your Coach, Willingness to learn, Coachable, Shooter vs. Scorer vs. Ball-player, Bring Camp Home, Share what you have learned w/ your teammates, Listen to your coach/Find what he likes and do it right, Etc.) – Have campers take notes.

1:20pm-Dynamic Stretch and Warm-up Routine w/ball(50/70/90% jog, high knees, butt kicks, karaoke, lunge and twist, lateral lunge, knee to chest/toe raise, power skip w/ arm circles,superlunge, frankensteins, pick up trash, hard stutters, rebounds, frogs, imagery lay-ups) (Warm-up sprints/back pedal w/ ball, Six Station Pass and Lay-in (2/3 courts)

1:35pm-Shooting Technique rvw. (in team lines.) Triple-attack/shooting position.

1. Feet, Base, Foundation 2. 3-attack position 3. Balance (Feet, knees, hips) 4. Back, chest, shoulders 5. Arms, hand placement, fingertips, wrist 6. Eyes (vision), target, elbow, arc, 7. Follow thru, release point, Sway, Eyes, (Turn, dip, and sway) 8. Confidence and belief.

Drills: (1 hand form, 2 hand form, toss w/ spin and catch on seems, 1-2 step, jump/hop step, off the dribble, catch/pivot and shoot, catch/face/rip and shoot.)

1:55pm-Close Range Shooting Stations(remind campers of importance of starting close and working their way out) 12 mins each

  1. Form Shooting no basket reps. (Basics/fundamentals)- fingertip and wrist control. Drills: Wall form (no ball, 1 hand, 2 hands), Floor shooting ( for wrist, fingertip and follow thru control), Partner pass and catch form shooting, Partner pass and catch 1 dribble form shooting, pass and catch on seems form shooting.
  2. Form shooting at basket- in front of rim, all net, on each side (no backboard), each side (off backboard), Sequence: (1 hand (all net), 2 hands, opp. Hand, 2 hands jumping.)
  3. Lay-ups Fundamentals (right and left hand) rapid fire drills- 1 foot, 2 feet, 1 dribb., 2 dribb., rev lay-ups, all angles (3 pt. line jab and go), h.c hi speed w/ obstacles, Pitino Drill, Catch and go.
  4. Inside the paint jump shots (reg. and big ball)/ learn to use glass drills- point blank X-jumpers good form, off catch and move, off dribble, glass, no glass, 3 player- 2 ball drills .
  5. Shooting and Scoring Footwork (lay-ups and jump-shots)- 1-2 step, hop step, step backs, floaters, side hop, euro-step, footwork off screens, (different angles w/ obstacles, timed and scored). Catch and go/Catch and rip series/token def.
  6. F.T Form/Technique/Routine Station- (reiterate that good scorers make f.t.s, time and score, must be able to make in late game sits.). 1 hand, 2 hands, 1 shot, 2 shots, 1 and 1.
  7. Using screens footwork into catch/rip/lay-in and mid range jump shots- down screen, cross screen, screen the screener, back screen, ball screen drills for max reps.
  8. 20 different ways to get open w/out the ball (deception, change speed and direction, palms out, body low ready to score) into mid range jumpers- v-cut, l-cut, fade cut, post and seal, post and pop, backdoor cut, basket cut/rim cut, baseline cut, circle cut, swim move, shallow cut, long cut, flash to gap cut, down screen, back screen, ball screen, cross screen, screen and dive, screen and fade, hand off, screen the screener, double screen, staggard screen, cut, stop, read and go, push thru, slip screen, curl the screen, box-out/rebound, play tough defense. etc…

3:15pm-Drink/Snack Break--- Rvw. fundamentals so far.

3:25pm-Stationary Group Ball Handling(Every camper with a ball)- -- Six Keys To Ball-handling / Types of Dribble Situations/Hand-eye quickness and handle drills (Arms staggered drops/flips, arms together drop/flips, drop rhythm single leg, behind head claps, behind knees claps, quick touches, slaps, pinches, head/waist/knees circles/cork screw, single leg/figure 8’s no dribble, around the step back, throw it through with two, cupping, Dribble pounds, pound and kill dribbles, single arm/single leg, both legs, figure 8 dribble, Spider, V-dribble front/ side, 1 hand 2 dribbles 1 leg, 2 hands 2 dribbles around legs, 1 hand 1 dribble 1 leg, 2 hands 1 dribble around leg, protection dribble, crossover, inside out, behind back, thru legs, spin and protect, combine two, mirror your partner/resistance from partner.)

3:40pm-Intro. to 1 on 1 scoring/shooting. *Great players can score a number of different ways. *Talk catch/rip/face, jab series for space, big c/little c, less is more, stay lower, create space, shot selection, deception, defense, finish. Game like shooting.

4:00pm-Drink/Snack Bar

4:05pm-NBA/NCAA (Fieldhouse)- Half court close range catch and shoot drills w/ and w/out token defense. 5, 5 min. stations. Coaches focus on shot readiness, form and fundamentals.

4:30pm-Dinner

5:45pm-Team Lines and Attendance. Stationary/Dynamic stretch and warm-up w/ ball

Start with arms and work down. Everyone counting.

Core and strength conditioning.

6:10pm-Shooting out of Triple Attack/ Pivot/ Protect/Jab step Series (6, 8 min stations)-.

Review proper triple attack stance and position, pivoting w/ both feet, how to protect ball from defender, use of the jab step/body. (Spread out w/ ball, whistle/stance(with both pivot feet), 10 lines of five-toss, jump stop, triple attack, pivot(inside and outside pivots)and pass(both feet), ball fakes/shot fakes/swing through, balanced and strong. Pair up campers and work on triple attack w/ pressure defense/being fouled/and double teamedwith and without dribble.)Keep time and score with competitive drills. Consequences!!!

7:00pmDrink/ Snack Bar Break / Rvw. fundamentals so far.

7:10pm-2 on 2 Basics (2 dribble rule) (Teach and demonstrate getting open w/out ball, spacing, using/setting ball screens, defending screens)—Split up NBA and NCAA, line up by height and play 2 on 2 king of the court games. No backyard/cookout basketball. Coaches teach as players are competing. Campers remember their wins.

7:40pm-NCAA/NBA (Main Gym) Group spot shooting contests---Each team at a basket. Mid-range only. 7 spots (corners, wings, elbows, free throw line)/ each team w/ 3 balls, spots up to 20, catch and shoot, 1 dribble shoot, 2 dribbles shoot, catch face jab and score w/ chairs as obstacles. And token def. (Coaches watch and teach form and technique fundamentals).

8:00pm-Seat campers around three point line and talk moving w/out ball, scoring w/out ball, getting open without ball, using screens, setting screens, change of speed/direction, misdirection, use of the plant foot, reading your defender, how to get free from a tight defender….. Talk and demonstrate.

Split into station groups but each group will complete only 4 stations 10 mins each.

  1. Shooting after v-cut, l-cut, fade, circle cut. Footwork, positioning, balance, release, follow through. Dry and wet.
  2. Post Shooting (post and seal, post and pop, flash the post/face/rip and go, post cross screen and shoot, rebound put backs, short corner/low post/mid post/ hi post/free throw line jumpers)
  3. Shooting out of (backdoor cut, basket cut, and dribble handoffs)
  4. Ball-screen, pick and roll, pick and pop shooting reps.

  1. Shooting out of cut/stop/read and go, shallow cut, long cut.
  2. Transition shooting off the catch, dribble (2’s and 3’s) hi speed.
  3. Shooting off various types of off the ball screens. (down screens, back screens, baseline screen, double screen, staggard screens)
  4. Pitino Drill Station w/ chairs as obstacles.

8:40pm-Drink/Snack Bar Break

8:45pm-5 on 5 games. NBA (fieldhouse) and NCAA (Main Gym) 12 min. games then rotate teams.

9:30pm-Shooting Competition 1 (21 shooting--- 7spots x 3 shots in 1min. and 15 seconds) Demonstrate first then place teams at baskets. Keep everyone on same clock.

Coaches give individual shot breakdown with their campers.

9:45pm-Team lines/ Rvw. the day/ Dorm room dismissal.

Friday, July 4th, Day 2-

7:30-8:45am-Breakfast

9:00am-Team Attendance. Dynamic Stretch Routine and Warm-up w/ ball

9:20am-Shooting Technique rvw. (in team lines.) Triple-attack/shooting position

Passing in motion into shots/lay-ups—2 lines/ 2 lines plant push and lay-in/ 3 lines/ 3 lines 2 balls/4 lines 2 balls, Box passing, 2 line pass and go behind, Rapid fire passing, 6 man passing, Perimeter speed passing into lay-ups, 3 man weave/5 man weave passing and lay-ups.

9:55pm-Drink/ Snack Bar Break

10:05pm-3 on 3 lecture and competition.

10:30pm-Shooting stations (6 stations/ 7 mins. each)

(1 hand machine gun, 2 hand machine gun, finger by finger machine gun, single arm single leg machine gun, figure 8 machine gun, figure 8 on one knee, sitting legs crossed around body, lay down by hip/shoulder,head, head w 2 hands, lay on side, lay down and roll, lay down and pass under feet, dribble sit-ups, plyo push-ups w/ ball, sideline moves(hesi./stutter,hard stutter, in and out, fake cross, cross over, behind back, between legs, spin and protect, step-slide protect, mirror partner, follow the leader, push ahead hi speed dribble.)

1:20pm-Ball handling competition in teams. Each team goes to lane of their basket.

2:10pm-Drink/Snack Bar break.

3:30pm-Free Throw Shooting (10 each) 1 and 1 shooting. Make the first get a second.

Explain Free throw basics/technique/ and importance of being a consistent free throw shooter. Coaches Keep track of each player’s shooting percentage on sheet provided.

3:40pm-Team Practice Session (put in read and react offense, one quick hit play for a shot, and one oob play for a shot)

Shooting Competition #2 (Explain Moneyball 3s)

4:00pm-NCAA/NBA --- Shooting technique video footage and campers’ technique footage.

4:30pm-Dinner/ Coaches please fill out evaluation sheets at this time and hand in to Coach Gomes. Begin thinking about Top Playmaker, Most improved, Top Long Range, Interior and Mid-range scorer awards.

5:45pm-Attendance in Team lines. Dynamic Stretch and warm-up./ Next set of Ball-handling drills(2 basketballs) or ball-handling into j.shots. (full-court w/ obstacles). (3 courts)

6:15pm-NBA/NCAA--- 5 on 5 on 5 baseline touch/ transition and fast break scoring drills.

6:45pm-Group Transition Fast Break Shooting Drills/3 point shooting drills/extended long range shooting drills and techniques./ floaters/ shooting off the handoff

Duke 2 man drills, Gator Drill (h.c. and f.c.), 5 man weave to 5 man break lay-ups and jump shots, 5 man weave to 5 on5 transition w/ rules, etc

7:15pm-Shooting Competition #3 (Two man hot shot) Explain, demonstrate, perform..

7:30pm-1 on 1 king of court 1 dribble rule / create your own shot.

7:50pm-Drink/Snack Bar Break --- Brief Talk on what is a good shot?

8:00pm-Fatigue /Late Game Free throw Shooting (10 each)/Team Practice (Rvw. man offense, quick hit, oob play for shot)

8:15pm-5 on 5 play. (Coaches teach with energy and passion: no sitting!) (10 min. games then rotate. Emphasize system, technique, execution, sharing the ball, putting into action all fundamentals reviewed so far.

9:00pm-Late game Situations to get a shot off! Executing with late game pressure! Know time and score!! Beating the buzzer for a good shot!!!!!

9:30pm-Wrap-up/Snack Bar/Attendance 8:45am/Coaches remember to complete eval. sheets.

9:45pm-Extra help session./Individual shot breakdown or extra reps.

Saturday, July 5th, Day 3-

9:00am-Team attendance, Dynamic Stretch and Warm-up Routine w/ball(50/70/90% jog, high knees, butt kicks, karaoke, lunge and twist, lateral lunge, knee to chest/toe raise, power skip w/ arm circles,super lunge, frankensteins, pick up trash, hard stutters, rebounds, frogs, imagery lay-ups).

9:10am-Last set of Ball handling drills (Rvw., 2 balls, in motion)

9:25am-Shooting contest finals, 1 on 1 /3 on 3 finals -- all others 5 on 5 on 5 scoring drills, transition scoring.

9:45am-NBA/NCAA--Team free throws (15 each)/Coaches rvw. evaluations with campers.

10:05am-30 sec drills for reps and form basics.

10:20am-Drink/snack bar break

10:25am-Coaches’ favorite shooting drills (6 stations, 6 mins. Each)

Add a last second shot station, trick shot station, beat the coach station, scoring off defense station, obstacle course shooting, shooting over tall defender, big ball station, and 3 point shooting station.

11:10am-Award Ceremony

11:30am-End of Camp.
