Brief Description of your job, its main purpose and major tasks:- To support the implementation of the OPCC’s Engagement Strategy and provide a link to further the Police and Crime Commissioner’s engagement with local communities.
Role Specific Tasks
  1. Develop and implement the OPCC’s communication and engagement programme in support of the PCC’s strategy, ensuring engagement with a wide range of stakeholders including local community representatives, local businesses, voluntary community groups and many more.
  2. Plan and co-ordinate events and community engagement activity on behalf of the OPCC ensuring consideration is given to our equality duty responsibilities.
  3. Develop, manage and maintain a range of communication avenues to improve engagement with and feedback from the diverse communities of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys, ensuring that the Police and Crime Commissioner’s responsibilities as the public’s representative are realised.
  4. Explore collaborative opportunities for engagement activity to enable the PCC to discharge his responsibilities in a cost effective way in partnership with others.
  5. Pro-actively engage with all levels of the community by using social media, the OPCC website, attending community meetings and shows, running focus groups and surveys and other similar activities. This will involve working occasional evenings and weekends.
  6. To lead on the development of the PCC’s statutory Annual Report and newsletters, as well as other engagement material.
  7. Provide feedback to communities on issues raised and actions undertaken by the Police and Crime Commissioner and Force.
  8. Support the PCC’s Youth Panel and the Local Criminal Justice Victims Engagement Forum, ensuring that findings from such engagement are reported to the appropriate fora.
  9. Proactively develop and maintain relationships with survivors and survivor networks across the Dyfed-Powys area to help them access appropriate support services.
  10. Identify groups who demonstrate a positive impact on local communities that might be eligible for funding or grants from the Police and Crime Commissioner.
  11. Receive concerns and compliments direct from the public, differentiate between low level concerns and formal complaints and deal with these as appropriate and in line with the Public Service Bureau guidelines.
  12. To represent the PCC and build relationships with partners including academia, public sector partners, business and voluntary sector.
  13. Undertake other duties as determined by the Executive Team which are commensurate with the grade.
  14. To provide support and resilience within the OPCC when necessary.

  3. To provide an effective and efficient service to both internal and external customers ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  4. To communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  5. To ensure OPCC systems are maintained and updated effectively in line with business processes.
  6. To ensure all work is undertaken is compliant with relevant legislation and force policies and procedures, keeping up to date with emerging technologies and best practise.
  7. To comply and act in accordance with relevant legislation, Dyfed-Powys Police Policies and protocols, including Code of Ethics, Personal Development Review (P.D.R), Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Management of Police Information, Data Protection and Information Security.
