Employee Development Week; Olympic Events Overview

______

Monday, March 30th: Photo Scavenger Hunt

Each team is given a list of items to find and they must race the clock to find as many of these items as they can, take a smartphone picture of the evidence, and return to the meeting place before time is up. Different items on the list earn different point values based on the difficulty of finding the item, so teams must work together strategically. This type of scavengerhunt will require teams to get up and moving and out of the office. It requires strategic thinking, time management, and thinking creatively. Teams will email photos with correct labels to the Olympic Committee and winners will be announced the next morning!

*Be prepared! Make sure you bring at least one smartphone or camera to this day’s event!

Tuesday March 31st(Lunch): Harvest Quiz

Sharpen your time-keeping and expense-tracking with a competitive format. Scoring will be based on accuracy of following directions and how quickly each team completes the task.

Tuesday March 31st (BBQ): Corn Hole Tournament

Corn Hole is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Play continues until a team or player reaches the score of 21. Get your March madness on as this will be a tournament style set up.

Wednesday, April 1st: Heads Up

Can you think on your feet? Name that song nobody knows? Act an emotion? The Heads Up app is going to put you to the test! Pick a category, then you and a teammate will have 20 seconds to act out, sing, recite and guess answers before the clock runs out. Teams will split into two pairs and do three rounds each and combine their scores for an overall team score. Get your head in the game!

*Be prepared! Make sure your team brings at least two devices capable of downloading the Heads up App (iPhone, Tablet, Ipad, Android).

Thursday, April 2nd:BasketballFree-Throw and Cup-Building Mini-Games

Test your skills for basketball free throws, and pyramid cup building! Each teammate will be given the opportunity to shoot 3 free throws. The team that makes the most combined shots will win the first round of mini-games. Have you ever played flip-cup? Well this next activity is similar…teams will work together and race the clock to build “cup pyramids.” Each teammate will begin pyramid building as soon as the last one finishes without knocking the cups over. The first team to reach the end of the line and finish building their cup pyramid wins!

Staff Olympics; Scoring System Overview

During Employee Development Week, teams will have the opportunity to score up to 100 total points. Up to 50 points can be earned during Phase I of (the Olympic Events) and up to 50 points can be earned during Phase II (the final presentations on Friday). The total of these two separate scores will be taken following the close of the week. The team with the most points out of 100 wins!

During Phase I, there are a total of 5 Olympic Events that each team will compete in (Photo Scavenger Hunt, Harvest Quiz, Corn Hole, Heads Up, and Mini-Games). Depending on your performance during these events, your team will earn first place, second place, third place, fourth place, or fifth place.

For each separate Olympic event, your team can earn up to 10 points. Teams in first place earn 10 points for the event, teams in second place earn 8 points, teams in third place earn 6 points, teams in fourth place earn 4 points, and teams in fifth place earn 2 points. The only exception is the Mini-Games event. Since this event composes of two different activities, you can earn up to 5 points for each activity, but it’s still 10 points total for both activities combined.

For the final presentations on Friday, your team also has the opportunity to earn first through fifth place. In addition to filling out general feedback forms for each team, each individual staff member will fill out a form rating each presentation from 1-5 (one being the best). Then, all of these scores will be averaged. Whichever team ends up in first place will get 50 points. Whichever team ends up in second will get 40 points. Whichever team ends up in third place will get 30 points. Whichever team ends up in fourth place will get 20 points. Whichever team ends up in fifth place will get 10 points.

Finally, your points from the first Phase of Employee Development Week (up to 50 points) will be added to your points from the second Phase of Employee Development Week (up to 50 points).

Depending on how many points out of 100 your team earns, you will receive first through fifth place. Teams in first, second, and third place will receive trophies!
