Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Arleth PTO is proud to offer a diverse selection of After School Enrichment Programs which will begin shortly. The registration form must be sent in to your child's homeroom teacher no later than October 8, 2014.

ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Please keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • If the number of applicants received exceeds the class size limit set by the teacher, names will be drawn by lottery. Parents will be notified if their child has been selected.
  • Payment is due at the time of registration.
  • Programs are open to all students in the grades indicated next to the course.
  • The PTO is not responsible for any bank charges incurred with returned checks. If a check is returned and payment is not made, the child will not be allowed to remain in the class. The PTO has the right to refuse a check payment if the check issuer is not in good standing.
  • Unfortunately, programs may be cancelled if there are not an adequate number of registrants. If a course is cancelled, you will have the option to reassign your child to an alternate course. If this isn’t possible, your registration fee will be refunded.
  • You may sign up your child for multiple programs on different days.A separate registration form must be completed for each class your child is signing up for.
  • Course prices may vary depending on the cost of supplies needed for that particular class.

GUIDELINES

  • If you have any questions regarding the after school program, please contactValerie Cannanat (732) 771-6157or . Please do not call the school.
  • All sessions are held from 3:40-4:40pm. Children will be dismissed at the end of the school day from their homeroom to their assigned class. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to remind his/her child on the day they are scheduled to attend a program.
  • If your child cannot attend an after school program class on a particular day, a written note must be submitted in ADVANCE to your child's homeroom teacher. If a note is not received, your child will be directed to go to the after school program at dismissal time. They will not be sent home without a note.
  • Parents are responsible for transportation. Children must be picked up promptly at 4:40pm. If you are arranging for someone other than yourself to pick up your child, please send a written note to your child's teacher. If a child is picked up late from a program twice, he/she may be dropped from the program and registration fees will not be refunded.
  • There are two locations for dismissal from after school programs at 4:40:
  • Johnsons Lane – rear of school next to playground.
  • Washington Road – front of school under awning where walkers are dismissed.

The specific location of dismissal will be indicated on your acceptance form,which you will receive in advance of the program’s initialclass. When picking up your child, please be sure to park in designated parking spaces. For safety reasons, do not double park your car, and please drive carefully and slowly in the parking lot.

  • If a child causes a disruption in a program, he/she will be given a warning. A second offense may result in the child being dropped from the program. Registration fees will not be refunded.
  • Refunds will not be given for absences. Refunds will not be given after the course has started.
  • In the event of snow days, holidays, or a teacher absence, classes will be cancelled and a make-up date will be scheduled. In these instances, parents will be notified of the make-up dates.
  • In the event that a teacher of an after school program is unexpectedly absent, please be prepared to have your child dismissed at 3:20 p.m. and sent home via their normal routine. We will make every attempt to reach you by phone. Please keep phone numbers UP-TO-DATE. If we are unable to reach you, your child will be held at the school for their safety. You are then expected to pick them up at the main office at dismissal time (3:20 pm).
  • Parents are to wait for their children outside of the school building. Please do not ring the bell to enter the school prior to the dismissal of the class.
  • Please note: In the event of an early dismissal due to weather conditions, the class will automatically be cancelled (rescheduled later). Your child WILL BE SENT HOME. Please be sure to check either WCTC 1450 am radio or the district website during inclement weather. This includes snow or heat waves. We cannot guarantee that a phone call will be made. For the safety of your child, it is imperative that you keep your emergency phone numbers up-to-date with your child's homeroom teacher, the office, and the after school program committee.
  • There may not always be a school nurse on duty during after school hours. Should a medical issue arise, calls will be made to the numbers you have provided to us. As previously stated, it is imperative to keep your emergency contact numbers up-to-date!

FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES MAY RESULT INYOUR CHILD BEING RELEASED FROM THE PROGRAM.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

All programs meet from 3:40 pm - 4:40 pm for 6 weeks and cost $25 unless otherwise noted.

TUESDAY CLUBS

Oct 13, 20, 27, Nov 17, Dec 1, 8(Make-up date: Dev 15)

Let’s Get a Move On (chess)– Grade 3

Teacher:Mr. Byrd

Course Cost: $25 + $5 material fee =$30 Total Class Fee

Course Program:6 weeks

Maximum Students:20

Students will be given a good foundation of an ancient game of chess played by kings. They will begin the process of decision making along with understanding good sportsmanship and being a gracious winner as well as a good loser.

Chocolate 101 – Grades 1 - 3

Teachers:Mrs. Jucciarone and Mrs. Jung

Course Cost:$25 + $5 material fee =$30 Total Class Fee

Course Program:6 weeks

Love chocolate??? We have the after school program for you! In Chocolate 101 we will be making several different treats all with the main ingredient of chocolate. You will learn how to prepare the ingredients, measure them out and create a delicious treat.

Super Science – Grades1 - 3

Teachers: Miss Kelly and Miss Lundgren

Course Cost:$25 + $5 material fee =$30 Total Class Fee

Course Program: 6 weeks

Minimum Students:20, Maximum Students:30

Do you want to be a real scientist? You can be! Super Science Lab is back with all new experiments such as, Lava Lamps, Gak, and many more!

WEDNESDAY CLUBS

Story and Snack – Grades K - 1

Art Club – Grade 3

Do you want to be an Artist? Or do you just LOVE to create? Do you want your art to live on in Arleth School? Do you want to paint murals and work in clay? Come be part of Art club! We will create art for home and to beautify Arleth School!

Fun & Fitness – Grades K - 3

This is a fun and interactive after school program where students can enjoy a variety of sports, games, and team-centered play.

Let’s Get Hooked (crochet) – Grades 2 - 3

Teacher:Mr. Byrd

Course Cost: $25 + $10 material fee = $35 Total Class Fee

Course Program:6 weeks

Minimum Students:5, Maximum Students:20

Students will learn to create what they have only imagined up to now. They will learn to make different crochet projects.

ArtsCrafts – Grades 1 - 3

Teacher:Mrs. Jucciarone

Do you enjoy making crafts? Then, join our Arts and Crafts class! During our six weeks together, we will be making many different crafts to decorate your house with or to wear. Some of the projects will be holiday related and some will just be for fun. Let’s get crafty!
