Tips for Giving an Effective Presentation
Enthusiasm - No one likes to listen to a speaker who has no energy or excitement! Really get into your presentation and show that you are enjoying what you are doing.
Professionalism - You need to present this as if you were doing this to get a job promotion. While you need to be treating this like a T.V. advertisement, even the silliest ones you see on T.V. have some degree of professionalism. A presentation that is "thrown together" will be evident!
Aesthetic Quality - Your visual aid needs to be colorful and interesting. People don't enjoy boring visual aids.
Topic Familiarity - Convince your audience that you know your Native American tribe well. If you are not effective with this, you will not convince your audience that your tribe is the best!
How this will work:
We will only spend three class periods on this presentation. You will start working on it today after we discuss the requirements, and you will have Monday and Tuesday to work on it in class. You need to start actually writing out what you will say in your presentation today. It is strongly recommended that you spend three to four hours outside the class on your presentation. You should even practice giving the presentation before you actually give it to your classmates. Your presentation should include all of the necessary criteria to receive the eligible number of points. You need to be prepared to present your tribe on Wednesday. This assignment is another that will not be accepted late for any reason. Be prepared to present starting Wednesdsay.
