NOVEMBER 15th - Elisa Mazzucchelli from Davagna in Liguria became the new queen of the Communities in Flower in Italy elected today out of a field of eleven finalists, all of great beauty which meant the duty of the jury of six was far from easy in selecting the most beautiful candidate from among the contestants representing their villages as Communities in Flower. Taking part in the international jury were the president of the world circuit of villages and cities in flower, the International Challenge, Raymond Carrière and the European judge for the Entente Florale event, Toni Schlaus. Presiding over the jury was Dr. Marco Acerbi, responsible for the organization of EIMA International, and in attendance were Marco Sitta of FederUacoma and Gianfranco Martinelli from ASPROFLOR, the Italian Association of Flower Nurseries. Miss Communities in Flower was elected this afternoon in Bologna against the prestigious backdrop of EIMA International.

The eleven finalists who took the stage in front of the EIMA megascreens and filed by were: Nora Lanzoni, Alessandra Giachello, Tania Giorgis, Chiara Cristoni, Cinzia Carnevali, Elisa Mazzucchelli, Beatrice Lanzoni, Denise Biolcati Rinaldi, Sharon Stins, Camilla Console, Roberta Giunta Stella.

Elisa Mazzucchelli will have duties of acting as godmother for all the major events involving the Communities in Flower over the coming year with the assistance of the runners-up, Roberta Giunta Stella from Terme Vigliatore and Tania Giorgis from Villar San Costanzo. ASAPROFLOR President Renzo Marconi spoke of “... a beautiful day ahead of the national Communities in Flower award ceremony which will be held tomorrow morning beginning at 10:00 am in the setting of EIMA with the participation of more than 140 delegations from towns and cities from all around Italy.”

As for every year, the municipalities taking part are given road maps of the Communities in Flower with a yellow background on which appears a variable number of red flowers, from one to four according to the degree of flowering determined by the evaluation commission which toured Italy from north to south and east to west.

The same setting will witness the official nomination of candidates to enter the two international competitions in which Communities in Flower is a partner, the International Challenge and the Entente Florale Europe.

Also of great importance will be the delivery of the of the now renown road map of the Communities in Flower with a yellow background on which appears a variable number of red flowers, from one to four according to the degree of flowering determined by the evaluation commission. This difficult work involved travels throughout Italy by the commission beginning in the spring and running through the summer for evaluating the municipal administrations registered, assisted by the commitment of the residents and the community.

All the communities taking part in the 2014 circuit of Communities in Flower were divided into four categories, villages, small towns, big cities and tourism communities and all will be added to the upcoming edition of the Guide to Communities in Flower in Italy for distribution in 120,000 copies in the first months of the coming year.
