Eligibility for Winter Intersession Assignments

Guidelines for Summer Intersession Priority

(Article 15 from AFT Contract)

I.  In those departments which have distinct disciplines (multi-discipline departments) a faculty member’s name shall appear on only one discipline priority list.

II.  A faculty member who voluntarily passes (or refuses) an intersession assignment in his/her subject field shall be placed in the same category as those for whom no assignment is available, regardless of his/her reason for such refusal.

III.  The Adjunct Seniority Lists (excluding full time faculty) will be used as a pool but NOTE in seniority rank order. Rather, as Adjunct Faculty are assigned to any Summer Intersession Assignment and serve, their priority for the next corresponding intersession will be below all those who did not have an assignment, i.e. they will cycle to the bottom of the list for intersession priority.

IV.  A non-teaching assignment (such as the Department Chair assignment) shall be treated in the same manner a Summer Intersession Teaching Assignment.

Examples:

·  A Department Chair on less than 0.4 reassigned time shall be deemed to have been assigned

one-fourth (1/4) of an intersession assignment for purposes of computing priority

·  A Department whose reassigned time is between 0.4 and 0.6 shall be deemed to have been assigned one-half (1/2) of an intersession assignment for purposes of computing priority.

·  A Department Chair on more than 0.6 reassigned time shall be deemed to have been assigned

one full (1.0) intersession assignment for purposes of computing priority

V.  Priority

Summer Intersession assignments shall be made in the following priority order and shall

provide each person assigned with an opportunity for a full assignment in priority order:

1.  Full Time Faculty at the college in a given discipline, teaching a portion of their regular fall or spring semester load during an intersession.

2.  Full Time Faculty at the college performing duties under an approved load banking plan

3.  Full Time faculty

4.  Adjunct Faculty who have seniority (reemployment) rights.

5.  All others
