Electromagnetic Spectrum FoldableChapter-18

Instructions:

  1. Make an 8-page flipbook using 4 pieces of paper.Staple the top edge so that each flap can be easily opened.
  2. Write The Electromagnetic Spectrum on first top flap and then each wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum on subsequent flaps. The order is as follows: gamma-ray, x-rays, ultraviolet, visible, infrared, microwaves, radio waves.
  3. Draw a sine curve on flap to show the wavelength of each wave.

NOTE: ALIGN ALL FLAP TITLES ON THE LEFT AND SINE WAVES ON THE RIGHT

Requirements for each flap are as follows: Answers to question must be in complete sentences.

Flap
All flaps MUST be colored / Requirements:
Each Flap must have at least 1 picture
Gamma Rays / What are the wavelengths?
How are gamma rays used in the medical field?
X-Rays / What are the wavelengths?
How can x-rays penetrate matter that light cannot?
Ultraviolet Rays / What are the wavelengths?
Explain 1 positive and 1 negative effect of being exposed to UV rays.
Visible Light / Recreate the table on page 543 (you must use a straight edge)
List 5 ways which visible light effects your everyday life.
Infrared Rays / What are the wavelengths?
How could infrared rays be used to lower your monthly utility bills?
Microwaves / What are the wavelengths?
Why is it necessary to stir food when using the microwave to reheat it?
Why is it necessary to let microwaved food sit for a couple minutes before eating it?
How does radar technology effect our everyday life?
Radio Waves / What are the wavelengths?
What is the frequency of FM radio waves?
What is the frequency of AM radio waves?
What does AM stand for?
What does FM stand for?
How can a TV broadcast be sent to the entire United States?
