Collect newspaper cuttings/internet info about social/local issue eg. Car crime/theft, vandalism, homelessness or other agreed choice / Computers/ipads. Lined / blank paper
Computers/ipads. Lined / blank paper / Make thought shower of what local organisations they may know or have used. Children share their experiences.
Create a further list of organisations that help people. Students to choose one to research further and present their findings to the rest of the class. They should make a poster or powerpoint presentation to aid there sharing with the class.AO1
Students to study local paper, watch local news to find out about issues. Choose one to discuss further and create a leaflet/poster of ways to help the situation. Create a list of ideas/advice for chosen issue. AO7
Invite police in to discuss any local crime issues / SEMSC / Taking turns and being considerate of other people’s needs. Asking questions and finding answers.

Form most letters correctly with possible confusion over upper and lower case eg all letters upper and lower case are correctly oriented.
Inconsistently match writing to structure and understand that words have permanence eg work must be scaffolded within a writing frame and heavily modelled.
Sometimes arrange ideas in appropriate order eg sequence three related events in a picture based text.

Spell simple phonetically plausible and many high frequency words accurately eg monosyllabic words (‘it’, ‘on’, ‘up’), CVC words (‘cat’, ‘mum’) and high frequency words (‘the’, ‘I’, ‘in’) are usually correct or phonetically plausible.
Show some awareness of full stops and capital letters.
Use some simple descriptive language eg to indicate colour, size, emotion.

  • Younger children at school
  • Receptionist at school
  • Charity – possibly £10 challenge?
