EIMA Agrimach, technologies and policies for Indian agriculture

The agricultural mechanization exhibition in New Delhi running from December 8 to 10 is scheduling conferences and meetings for gaining an understanding of the trend of agricultural development in India and the technological and mechanical requirements in the various regions of the country.

The EIMA Agrimach international exhibition set for December 8 to 10 in New Delhi is presenting the finest array of machinery and technologies for agriculture manufactured by 250 specialized industries and setting up a highly interesting schedule of conferences and technical meetings planned specifically for policymakers, businesspeople and experts in the field of agricultural mechanization.

The issues taken up over the three days of the event are covering the development of the primary economy, mechanization demand in the various areas of the country, the evolution of international markets, international trade and the challenges looming in the near future. On the opening day of EIMA Agrimach, following the inauguration ceremony with Indian Minister of Agriculture Shri Sharad Pawar among those in attendance and speeches delivered by FICCI President Harsh Mariwala and the FederUnacoma president, Massimo Goldoni, the first conference will be dedicated to the state of mechanization on the sub-continent. Overview of Farm Machinery Sector in India, will provide updates on the phenomenal growth of this market, which has risen to become the world’s top ranked for tractor sales, and government incentive policies for the dissemination of new technologies. A second conference, Financing Farm Machinery in India, is set for Thursday afternoon the 8th for handling financial instruments for the purchase of machinery and import procedures by representatives from the world of banking and credit. A third appointment is set for later in the day, Global Trends in Farm Machinery, which will focus on the international scenario and look into descriptions of the geography of the markets and development trends in various areas of the world. In this connection, also on the schedule is a statement from the Italian federation of manufacturers, FederUnacoma, on the work of Agrievolution, the international forum which brings together the manufacturers associations in the world’s leading producer countries, Europe, the United States, India, Brazil, China and Russia for monitoring trends and the geography of the markets. Also coming up will be remarks from ENAMA, the Italian agency specialized in certifying agricultural machinery quality and safety, and from the coordinator of Entam, the European specialized agency. Two conferences will be held the morning of Friday, December 2nd: the first dedicated to the challenges and goals of the Indian agricultural machinery and equipment industry, Panel Discussion on Challenges faced by the Farm Machinery Manufacturers in India, an industry which has achieved high levels of production and is aiming for a greater extension and quality of ranges through cooperation

with foreign industries. The second conference, Institutionalizing Custom Hiring of Farm Equipment, will focus on mechanisms for leasing machinery to provide a way to rationalize farms’ machinery inventory and hold down costs.

Time will also be given to the issues of certification in a meeting planned for the morning of Saturday the 10th set up by CERMET and the Emilia Romagna Region for the purpose of shedding light on the criteria applied for the evaluation of the quality of agricultural production chains. A second meeting on the afternoon of the same day will revolve around the potential and criteria used for energy sources of agricultural origin. This meeting is sponsored by the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the FICCI, the Italian Biomass Association ITABIA and the BIT Network, Bioenergy Integrated Technologies, a consortium at work on decentralized energy production poles.

Set for the afternoon of Saturday the 10th is a conclusive Wrap-Up Session intended to finalize proceedings and provide a summary of the contents which surfaced during work and policy recommendations for developing the sector.
