Course Description

Chemistry II builds on the foundation set in Chemistry I. A greater emphasis is put on laboratory applications with biochemistry, organic chemistry, and qualitative analysis being expanded on. This is a weighted class so the expectations are high. If you pay attention, stay on top of your assignments, and study for your tests you will be successful and have fun in this class.

Grading

Your grade in this class will be calculated be dividing the total points that you earn be the total points possible. One tenth of your grade will be a participation grade (more specific information will be provided separately). The grading scale is as follows:

90% - 100% A

80% - 89% B

70% - 79% C

60% - 69% D

0% - 59% F

Materials and Supplies

You will have a text provided. Any lab materials needed will be provided on the day of the lab. It is your responsibility to take care of your textbook. You must bring your own paper and pencil/pen. You need a scientific calculator to take this class – it doesn’t need to be a graphing calculator.

Assignments

You will be expected to do homework in this class. Assignments will be due on the assigned due date. NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED!!

Attendance and Make Up Work

Attendance is very important in all of your classes. Each day missed puts you behind. When you do miss this class, you may make up any work missed if the absence is excused. It is your job to check with the teacher to get any work missed. It is not the teacher’s job to chase the student to see that they get the missed work.

Behavior

The rules listed her are not in order of importance. Each rule is important and is to be followed.

You must bring your own paper and pencil/pen to class.

You will treat fellow students, teachers, and even this room and equipment with respect.

You will conduct yourself in such a way that you do not interfere with another student’s right to an

education.

You will not use any inappropriate language nor discuss inappropriate topics in this room.

You will not eat, drink, and chew gum in this class.

Passes to the nurse or restroom are a privilege not a right. Don’t abuse the privilege.

NO CELL PHONES OR OTHER ELECTRONIC CEVICES OUT DURING CLASS.

LAPTOPS MAY BE USED ONLY WITH PERMISSION FROM MR. EDWARDS

When you violate any of these rules expect some sort of consequence.
